So far in my limited experience, all 2-series Hooskies I've had my booger-hooks in have been dual port. Except for the Tree-90-Feckin-Fo, I haven't come across a 3-series that wasn't a quad. Josh, was your 372 XT a dual?? (Not counting stratos)

That’s a score!

I wonder if the design problems with the auto decomp, intake clamp and the carb hurt the 357’s potential. I don’t take Saw preferences personally at all, I just find it amazing there isn’t a bigger following for them. Man they are potent stock and fire breathers modded.
they sure did, the biggest pro saw seller in Norway refused to take in and sell 357's with autodecomp.

I only had one 357 here to work on and it is a tree service saw. Gets beaten daily. Seems to hold up ok. Not as torquey as a 262, but it’s faster in cut speed. I think the 262 chassis could probably take more abuse, but I like the filter setup and av better on 357.

that is right, 362 has dual port, 362 was also a huge mistake by Husky, same plattform as 372, very few buy a 60cc saw big as a 70cc saw, except them Stihl lads :D
I always wondered why I never see husky 362. Sounds like a boat anchor.

Yes the XT is dual port but it is bottom fed, not a windowed piston. You sure you’re remembering the 394 correctly? Pretty sure it is a windowed piston dual port cylinder. And the 395 is also dual port with the only difference being the intake set up.

395 is quad and boot intake. 394 is dual and intake block. Both have windowed pistons but are different pistons. Imagine 394 transfer sort of split into two.

Im remembering correctly, both 394 and 395 have lowers like a 288 and windowed pistons. Only difference is 395 is quad uppers and 394 is dual

Ah that’s what it was. 395 got the advantage of aiming the transfer charge better with the quad uppers.

Run a 394 and 395 back to back and you can tell the difference. They behave differently. 394 is raw power delivery. 395 is smooth and better throttle response. At least that’s the best I can describe it. Whether it’s due to the porting or something else I do not know for sure.
