Similar idea when I worked for Stihl in 1989. On my road trips I past these brochures out to dealers and endusers.:applaudit:View attachment 141135

That is neat! 12.8 lbs, is that with the HD filter kit, or winter flocked filter kit?

I own several 044's...

Just for kicks one day I weighed a bunch of them...

This one was the lightest, of all my 044's

It's a very early 10mm 044, has a HD filter kit on it, 1/2 wrap handle, complete power head, dry of 99.99% of gas & oil.

Did I strike a nerve? Wasn’t my intention. I’ll leave now. I was joking about weight reduction and trying to be funny in my earlier posts.
Sorry I was going to delete that but you beat me to it. I was just teasing you too over my history lessons;)

Thanks for posting. Those 12.8 specs were definitely a bare bones 044 without the HD filter, no dogs, low profile caps, not sure about the sprocket cover and nuts.
Here's my '89 West German 044 just before I sold it last spring

Can somebody tell me if the clutch springs for an 044 are the same for an 064? I have a set for an 044 and wonder if they will work on the 064. Thanks in advance.

Lots of good info here!

Just doing a bit of research on my 066. It's 131 067 xxx.

It's a short case saw, metal flywheel, no decomp.

Based on what I'm seeing here, my dual port Magnum muffler and metal badge are correct for this saw.

I'm guessing it was a late 1994 build; maybe very early 1995. Anyone have date info?

See below for a few older pics. Looks better than that now; spent an hour or so today wetsanding the top cover, and installed metal tag, too. Also blasted and painted the fan cover with some Valspar Ford Gray.

Pics of your paint.
Looks like a 660 starter on it. My 66 has all the early big bearing saw stuff but the original jug. It has a decomp plug in it. Need get it apart and see what jug is on there. Good strong runner set up just like yours but with a half wrap.

I’d like to know the price of those two models at the time?

Everything appears to be correct other than the elasto-start and the handlebar.

What info is there out there about OEM cylinder part numbers? When trying to find them on Ebay or where ever I see different part numbers.
