I know for a fact a early 90's Yamaha FZR600 had them. I believe it was called the "EXUP" valve.

Here is the reason I know it as a fact lol Ahhh, the stuntbike days.

Must of been good enough for no cage or 12 bar? My tank was dented for hi chairs and had a million zips ties on all my bikes

I miss those days...

What do you think the fur was for? Cloth was cheap and holds the broken plastics together lol

The FZR wouldnt have pulled a high chair if it had nitrous on it. Plus the gas tank was a small tank underneath, the top cover was fiberglass. The Gixxer I replaced it with was much easier to work with lol

Do you get many fines getting through that filter when you use it if there's no snow? I thought I heard those nylon filters were more to keep snow out, and I guess the sawdust would stick to the melting snow on the filter...but wasn't sure they would work in normal conditions like here where snow is rare...
Like I said I clean the nylon filter often enough not to worry about the fines working through.
Yup leave a filter dirty long enough you'll need grease at the base to stop fines:applaudit:.
Funny how things went in the late 1980's early '90s when all the rave was first the Jonsereds/Partner Turbo in ' 88 and then the Husky 262XP air injection in '89.
Was a no brainer for Stihl to offer the air compensate intilli carb setup in '90- '91.

Here we are in 2018 and I converted all my 1122 series WJ carbs back to flat cover non intilli.
Never needed it in the first place as I still switch out my filters twice a day. I think they run better too without the intelli.

Funny how the 272XP for example ran for all those years into the '90s without air injection and with 3 screws to get at the filter and endusers still cleaned them regularly without *b-worden.

Muffler deflectors normally prevent blowing dirt blowing back at the air intake when in the felling position near ground level. Only other way I got dirt on my saws was from cutting dirty barked pine in sandy ground.

But as far as I'm concerned I'm very happy to take the time at lunch break and at the end of the day to go over my saw keeping it at its peak. Clean filter, clean out the bar rails razor sharp chain and topping up tanks with fuel and oil.

26 years on this 066 P/C and still putting out 175 psi with a low profile nylon filter.:)

No filter issues on my 044(and it's also quite a bit lighter than an HD set up).

2 main reasons I went almost strictly Husky. The superior filtration, as well as superior anti vibration. I've tried Max flow too, runs better but still kills the saw over time. Stihls self destruct from the filtration what I've seen.

I don’t understand what is so hard about having a clamp on filter with a actual automotive style hose clamp to secure the filter like a 394/395xp has (which is a 20 years old design!). Even some of the newer huskies aren’t as good. At least the 572 is turning that around it seems... with a rubber seal and screw clamp to tighten it down (similar looking to the 6100 dolmar setup).

I ll wash all HD2 filter once in a year.
Just look in the manual as it states there that you can wash them with soap.
And we have some MS 261s with 1800 hours on them and they only needed some new bearings and oil seals.

Seems also the husky filters being on top pull less in, stihl seems to be right in the rooster tail of the chips.
