A man named Bob Walker in Canada i heard say to sharpen the chain for the powerhead it is being used for ,took me a bit to understand but if use less hook and top plate and high rakes my stock 026 ,will pull a 28 inch bar without bogging and using the dogs,it it not the fastest through the log but the chain was tuned for the powerhead it was on
Always match the chain to the saw..

And that, to the wood..

When the old timers talk ,i listen ,they know more than can be found on any internet site.

May be because they don't understand how angles change how the tooth bites ,i used to be happy just to get the chain to cut again am sure others are the same way

One thing I just noticed is your angles. Both of you who know what you are doing take a lower angle with the file. My angle is a bit too high I would say. I will correct it as I go on.

The teeth cut very well, but it seems I just missed the corner a slight bit.
Thanks for the feedback.
I still hack away, continuously learning this square file. I converted this chain from round to square. Lol
Eye two wood be happy with that...

I wood'nt change a thing either Jeff. You'll loose durability.
edit: (unless you are cutting lots of softwood)
