Homelite 750 never ran one or seen one in the flesh but I missed a nice one on evilbay , the colour scheme and build style is awesome and can't wait for the next one to come swimming around the lake again

Any photos or videos most welcome

I have a rather nice Homelite 750 I'd be willing to sell. It needs work on the clutch. Not sure if it needs a spring or what.....

So a ported 2101 would run with a big cc Mac 797, 125?
My ported 2100 would not hang with my ported 395 at any bar length, nor would a stock 2100 hang with a stock 395 except possibly with over 42" bars. Those old 123cc Mac's are best at a 50 inch bar and up. 36 inch is wasted on them. The higher revving newer saws will beat them in that bar length. For 36 to 50 inch and possibly longer, the ported 395 is likely the best thing going. Plenty of parts availability and very smooth.

Raker depth, wood size and hardness have a lot to do with how a saw cuts as does chain type. Chisel, square, round, semi chisel, and chipper. 1/2 " .404", and 3/8" play a huge part in cutting. Raker height is what a few of the old timers have mentioned when I've heard them talk about saw setup. A low power direct drive saw might have stock rakers height and may be chipper or semi chisel .404. A big powerful gear drive may pull a long bar with 1/2" full chisel and the rakers down .020 depending on wood conditions. The hardwood vs softwood can be a misnomer as pitchy Doug Fir has always been much harder for me to cut or split than white oak or big leaf maple. Tight grain softwood with pitch does not always leave nice clean chips and balls up between the bar andd chain making conditions much worse than most oak. Try splitting a fresh 36" Doug Fir round vs oak and see. Wood type denotes saw setup for any given saw. So a 2100 may or may not beat a bigger saw depending on setup for conditions.

I've never had the pleasure of running a 2100 but seeing that scarr 2100 i seriously doubt my ported 395 could come near it but as far as parts availability it's much easier to get parts to fix/ rebuild the 395.
I've run a few 3120 and 084 even with up to 72 bar wasn't that impressed but never got to run a ported one.

My ported 395 is the same, that's why my ported 088 got sold. The 125 may be slower but it doesn't get near as warm or turn the rpm's of the 395. I think you would find if you used the saw all day on big cuts, the 125 might be better. Also possible, while heavier, less tiring. I find a lot of rpm noise over a long time can be tiring. Probably cycles and frequency vs the human ear. I doubt there is an old 6 cube saw, ported or not, that can keep up with a ported 395. A few 6 cubes can likely oil a long bar better, and by long I mean over 50 inch.

Would you classify a solo 690 (Not 694) as an old 6 cuber?

That chain wasn't fully up to par, it could've been a lot better. Hopefully I get time to square up the chain for my 37" bar
