372 xp by far in for a lot of reasons, light and powerful and easy to get parts for and work on- plus mod, which can't seem to help myself from doing that but takes very little to get them to really perform and maintain their dependability, quite impressed with the MS 461 I have as well but think it's going out the door this week.

Got a buyer for that 461? A neighbor just called looking for one.

Shipping from west coast of Canada would really raise the price, I do have a guy I just went over his 660 and says he wants it, - up until a week ago I wasn't going to sell it until I got a 372xp together for myself, kinda need a firewood saw or 2.... 390xp will be the other keeper.

I'd like to think as grown ass men we could leave the child like behavior to the children.

I know you are, but what am I?

Oh, wait... nevermind.

Smartassery aside, I hope to be moving into the 70cc class soon. I'm kind of a Husky guy (that right there, boys and girls, is a non-sexual double entendre', 'cause I'm a fatass) so I'm sorta looking at either a 572,372, or if I'm broke from Christmas, one of the Holzfforma clones. I really want to handle a 572, but the only ones available around here are chained up, so you can't really pick them up.

Ok so this might fit in this thread:eek:
So im just gonna send it! Here we go. Just really looking for some insight and opinions on a 2077. I picked one up from a buddy for a really good deal and weeeeellll i needed another Jred of course:D
so ive never ran one but i did have a PP475 builder that i traded way back and never really let it go. My questions come in at overall HP and torque. Ive heard and read that they (2077) have both. Heard of them being used for race saws, and ive heard from a longtime member and collector that said he had a 36”+ bar on his and it was unstoppable and 4stroked at damn near 16k. But some of my recent research says otherwise. Posted 2 pics to show my confusion. Just for comparison sake we can use the 2171/372, Because ive ran them before. Any help is much appreciated, just trying to learn about the 2077 and wer it stands in the saw line up. Thanks! F5B56E3F-6D80-4B34-9204-7F2DD0C288BB.pngE61F7771-0C6C-4970-B8AA-FD4BF5F8F7FF.png

I've had the original Stihl 044, Stihl 460, Stihl 064, 066 and 661 a woods ported Husky 372xpw. The xpw was very impressive light and powerful. I didn't care for husky ergos so I sold it after a few years. My favorite 70cc is this one. 20201114_134025(1)~3.jpg Reminds of the 064 narrow and light. And torque is awesome. And it eats wood big time love the chips in this pic.DSC_7719~2.JPG

My Husqvarna 372XPW is my go to 70cc saw. It responds well to porting, muffler mod and timing advance, and it has a track record of being a very reliable saw. Not bashing other brands at all thats just my opinion.
My second favorite 70cc saw is a Stihl MS461. It makes decent power out of the box and doesn’t feel overly heavy. My dad bought one a couple years back now and I kinda wish he kept it lol.

A 14.9 lb power head that dynos less than 5.4 Hp stock, compared to a 462 that is 13.2 lbs and dynos over 6.5 Hp stock …

I hope you enj0y it, but I'll keep my 462s!

That said, the Echo does seem to be very well made and durable, and is a great deal for the money, and I'm sure some easy mods will increase the power.

But I don't just buck firewood all day, I do a lot of limbing of the trees I drop, so powerhead weight is important to me. (Plus, I'm not getting any younger).

Different saws for different reasons.

Oohh. Did someone put a stock 7310 PHO on a scale?

They're pretty decent runners and with a little work, can be quite a bit stronger. I built a 475 with a cut-down 064 piston once and it pulled pretty good. The carb they come with is more comparable to an 064/066 carb. I don't know that the 77cc engine is really suited for a 36" bar though - it's not quite that strong and the clutch is comparable to a 268/272 clutch. I ran a 32" bar and chain on my 505 and it seemed to like that fine in western softwoods.

Thanks JJ! Pretty good info. Since i know nothing about this model what advantages r there over the stock piston with the cut down 064? The member i was referring to was ModifiedMark. I think his was ported but i dont know by who. He seemed like a str8 shooter when i met him buying a saw. What about the hp ratings i posted pics of? And how does the 2077 compare to a 372 oe?

The 475/2077/2083/505 make peak power at a lower RPM range than the 371/372/2071/2171. They have dual bottom-fed transfer ports whereas the 372/2171 have the bottom-fed quad ports. What's funny is they have bottom-fed transfers but came with windowed pistons more suited to through-fed transfers. I'm gonna build a 475 this winter and I might try a slab-sided or solid piston and see if loses spool-up or top end speed. As far as the published specs, I think they make a little more power than what was advertised. I think if you ran a 475 next to a 372 in 20" wood with the same bar and chain, there wouldn't be much difference in cut times. The 372 might edge it out just a hair. Go up to 30" wood and the reverse would likely be true.
