Maybe I can sweet talk @Mastermind or @huskihl into porting my NIB MS461 one of these days...as long as I don't get the ban hammer first.

It don't get overlooked at my house...

It's one of the best saws Stihl ever made in my opinion.

No matter what I’m going to do, those are the 1st 2 saws that get loaded.

Trim jobs or full on felling, others change out but those 2 are on the truck regardless.

Banned? Oh hell no. Not over this stuff my friend. No sir.....I believe we are in it to win it. Together.

How hypocritical of me would it be for me to call for unity.....to pray for unity, and then ban someone over this sort of thing.

I'd be happy to port a saw for you, but I bet Kevin could get it done sooner.

In stock form I think a 461 was generally stronger than most 460s (which had port timing #s all over the place), but the stock 461s also seemed more vulnerable to burned pistons. With a muff mod and removing the limiters they seem to be great saws.

Fully ported I think a 460 and a 461 were close to equal, neither being always stronger. Since I already had a good ported 460 I just didn't need a 461 … nothing against the saw.

Also saw a few 461s with stripped spark plug holes. May have been a bad batch?

Probably more on the part of those Gorillas that stripped the holes over tightening the plugs with a full-on grip fist.

Agreed, but they always had more 460s that did not strip. Had stripped 461 jugs from 2 different groups.

Perhaps they were under-tightened from the factory and loosened over time. Just a guess. Most “pros” never check the plugs. The fluttering around of a loose plug from vibrations eats up the threads.
