My favorite two shotguns are an Ithaca 37 20ga. I got in 1977 and a Remington 1100 12ga. I got in 1979. Still have both. There were gifts from my dad.

My dad gave me an Ithaca 37 in 12 gauge when I was 13, for Christmas. Great shotguns!

Let's talk about scatter guns everybody, what's your favorite and why? Do you run a pump, auto loader, single shot, side by side, over and under, or do you have different ones for different purposes?

Here is my clay gun, Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon I 12 gauge. First (and only) over and under that I own, it shoots better than I do.
All of mine shoot better than I do. I hate shotguns, but I keep at it anyway.

Ithaca 37's got 4 of them plus a Remington Mod 10 pump built 1921. I am lefthanded
so with the Ithaca dropping the empties out the bottm brillant for a lefthander. They are
still being built in the USA and get whatever parts you want they have them. Never had any of mine
ever jam yet and with the military thread on the barrel you can remove that in 5 seconds, which is
good if hunting in swamps cause the mag spring stays behind not out in the rushes like so of
the other pump guns.
I have 2 normal ones a ducks unlimited version and there top centennial model. The browning BPS
runs a close second but the browning I had was a bit prone to jamming. Will get some photo's up
when I get time but have used them all and by far the best I have ever come accross.

Growing up on the farm and in the bush I seemed to always carry a shotgun.
I had a mossberg 535 for hunting waterfowl, I had thousands of steel shells through it before I upgraded to an sbe3, but I still have my 20” 590a1.
For a farm gun I have a TOZ-66 coach gun, short and simple, throws a great pattern of #2 lead and #4 buck. I tried out 14” pump guns but didn’t like them as much.
Then I have my grandfathers Belgian auto-5 vent rib with a mod choke, a model 12 with a cutts I bought with plans to cut down but don’t have the heart and a ugly Ithaca 37.
I tried 870’s and hold nothing against them but they don’t fit me so whenever I got one it didn’t last long.

Here are some pictures of my Ithaca 37 Centennial which is out of this world.
And as far as I know there was only about 1800 of them made.
Also one of my old 1912 Winchester as well.

I’m a shotgun shooter and have been for a long time. My go-to guns are my Winchesters. Models 12 and 42. Favorite game is Skeet. I shot competitively for several years until it wasn’t fun anymore. I have one of those high dollar Krieghoff’s and don’t shoot it much anymore. Although last month I shot Sporting Clays with it and did surprisingly well. Lot of fun but I don’t shoot as much as I used too. It’s a long story but I’m moving back to semi-regular. How can you not have fun blowing stuff on a regular basis?
Good to see a thread on my favorite sport!

I have had many shotguns, my favorite was probably the Rem. 1100, think I had 6 of them. Shot my first 100 straight at trap with a field grade 1100.
Had a few Browning auto 5s, thought they were great until I shot a round, of trap with one, that double shuffle of the long recoil system which I had never noticed while hunting threw me off so bad I couldn't have hit the trap house.
I was big into bolt action rifles and one day I picked up a Mossberg bolt action 12 ga. at a flea mkt. I put screw in chokes in it, one Sunday I took it to the skeet range just fer grins & shot a 24, the target missed was not a double.
My favorite singles trap gun I think was the BT99 browning, they just worked!

I started shooting clays with a 12ga Beretta O/U, I forget what variant. It worked fine and was pretty but I eventually started looking for something more shoulder friendly.
I traded the O/U for a Beretta Excel "smurf" semi-auto. Within 2 weeks it was back to Beretta for repair. It went back 4 times ans that 2 weeks was the record.
I sold the Beretta and bought a clays variant of a Browning field semi-auto. Its speed load function never worked and in fact jammed the gun up. I called Browning to arrange a return and was told "That's just how they are". I asked so an advertised feature does not work? "That's just how they are, you could return it at your cost. There will be a diagnosis fee if it is found to be operating normally and you will also pay return shipping.
I sold the Browning and bought the lowest cost Beretta in the lineup. I think it's called the Outlander. It's been bullet proof, or rather shell proof literally. Once it demonstrated reliability I had the chalky/rusty barrel Ceracoated but that's it. Wifey shoots a Winchester SX3 and it just plain runs. I guess shotguns are like cars. If you want reliability you need to pay bare minimum.
