Ditto a well ported 046/460. That said, my ported 044 with a 28" light bar (thanks for the recommendation Ryan) is my favorite felling saw due to it's light weight. If I need to cut high due to rot or the shape of the tree, there is no problem doing it with this saw.

Incidentally, comparing the weight of 20" & 24" E bars to ES bars, the Es are 8.3 oz and 10.3 oz lighter, respectively. That can make a big difference with the balance & feel of the saw.

Unless your a timber faller hiking nasty ass terrain and combin out 45-60 sticks a day that weight difference on the occasional tree is moot between a 440 and 460 ... on a good day its moot , for the most part it doesnt even exist unless your frail or weak or maybe have a handicap of some sort... those 28" light bars are where its at on 70cc saws.

I don't recall anyone who has met me in person describing me as such, but you are entitled to your opinion.

If your working on a rocky ledge, and you have to really reach out to make a cut high up on a tree that has a rotted bottom, that pound of weight makes a difference even on the first cut ... that's my opinion.

Of course, if you yourself are over weight it will counteract the weight of the saw, so you will not notice it as much, but I try to keep my wight in check, so I do notice it.

Lol , mike how many trees do you cut on a rocky ledge ?

Im not big or small , im 6'3 and weigh between 210-220 , i know 160lb dudes who sling a 90cc saw around like a hatchet..ive never heard a single guy ive ever worked with make up a single scenario about why a pound makes a difference in a saw lol....its a tool just use the fukkin thing lol..different strokes for different folks i suppose...i guess if it makes a difference to you thats all that matters.

Yep, that is all that matters, and I do prefer the lighter saw for certain tasks.

Some of you weight junkies are lucky you havent worked for the guys i have , if i told the guy i work for i think we should use a 440 instead of a 460 for this tree today because my arms cant take it he would probably make me walk home or punch me in the balls to make sure they are still in place ... these forums genuinely crack me up lol..you guys are a hoot lololol

Weight isn't an issue on the ground, a 288xp is a perfectly fine limbing saw in my opinion.
Climbing though and I'll take the lightest saw capable of doing the job

Our main climber at work doing big gum removals goes from 201t to 661, but then that's real big stuff and not pruning

I know its a personal thing but i gotta jump 20cc before i even notice the weight difference of a tool , i can appreciate how saws balance and all the ergos and *s-word but i genuinely dont notice these minor weight things that people discuss.
