If you need a carb now I have some sitting here. Those numbers will be fine. Limited coil isn't too bad of a problem. Just advance the timing a little and you're good.

Working on this cs-900evl. After cutting the base and setting the squish I have:
100 ex
125 tran
72 int
I've never done an echo and never run this saw.

The rounded corners on the piston make it very difficult to get definitive numbers.

Possible. I thought of that but not real likely without whoever did it not noticing it not wanting to slide into the bore.

I spoke to the owner again last night, although this saw was purchase in June of 13, it was not used for a long time. He has a habit of doing that, purchase a b/o saw, and not let the guys use it until the saw they are currently using goes down.

I don't see any bearing damage, and the saw does not look like it has had much use. I'm wondering if there was a factory defect that just was not picked up right away cause he did not use it (says for over a year).

Also, does anyone know what that silly looking saddle is on the 461 case? Someone speculated that if the piston got sloppy, it may have contacted that! All of the metal fragments look like piston.

That doohickey I'd for directing flow or something like that. Treemonkey or Randy took it out and lost power. It fills a big part of the case capacity

OK guys, I just re checked everything, and I think I found the problem.

Bearings in tact, piston pins both in place, both rings still whole, no other loose metal other than piston, and as I looked down into the case, the impulse line nipple is sticking into the case, the piston must have hit it. That would explain everything!

OK guys, how do I move an impulse line nipple, and keep it in place?

Man, something tells me this should have been warranted, but with the DOM, no chance!

Advice appreciated on fixing this problem. I could just cut off the excess, but how do I keep it from moving again?

I'll post a pic (my mind is going 90 MPH, forgive me). I literally re-inspected it while I was posting.

It also seems perfectly located as a "rod stop"!!! Reminds me of when my 427 low riser pistons had valve bumpers! I'm sure they worked real well!

Yea, I kinda thought it may function as a case stuffer!

Ok can't find anything on this ? Started tearing down older 10mm 044 noticed a flywheel fin was broken, got to looking there's marks on cylinder. What would cause this bad bearings , warped flywheel, or could it be bent crank ?image.jpeg

image.jpeg
I'm waiting on flywheel puller, I didn't press/vac test cause I knew I was going to do piston, seals, all rubber if jug is salvageable ?
But wasn't expecting to split case ?
Any thought are appreciated.

Could have happened any time in the past if you've not owned it the whole time. Is there any play in it now ?

Looks like a screwdriver was jammed on the flywheel to hold it.

No play in it now but is real close to jug ? Maybe someone did try to pry it off or use screwdriver to hold it?
It's a recent barn find so no history just early slant fin 044 w/scored piston.
Maybe when flywheel is off I can use a straight edge to see if it's bent or warped ?
One fin missing won't throw balance off enough not to use will it ?
