Today I was again working on the pump diaphragm for my Reed-Prentice 1200B (Craftsman) chainsaw. This was a funky one to draw in Fusion since it is kind of a wonky shape. I started over tonight and kind of ball parked everything and took six adjustments in the drawing to get everything lined up. I even got to try out cutting diaphragm material on the Cricut (provided by @heimannm when I visited him at his museum).

First pass the gasket material and the diaphragm material cut great, however I screwed up and used my gasket template to cut the diaphragm...hence turning it into a really thin gasket

R to L - Gasket bottom, gasket top, screwed up diaphragm and original diaphragm

Second attempt, this time I didn't cut out the middle of the diaphragm

Mocking it up to see what it will look like when it is all glued together. I will have to pop out the rivet on the original diaphragm and reuse the metal pieces (there are two, one on each side - the one on the other side has the tab and slit that the needle lever goes through). I need to figure out a way to make a die so that I can press new ones.

New and old diaphragms sitting next to the carb body.

This was the second to the last gasket I needed to make for this saw, there are eight total. The last one will be for the crank case that houses the engine oil for the main gear, it is the largest of the gaskets and should be a fun challenge!
wow! That's impresseve

Finished my last 346 project, I'm going to use this one myself and have it, opening up the muffler. E-tech muffler left it a long time ago.

Trio Brake also left her:

And the normal cutout for 357 filter & holder:

Next up is a 42 special I'm going to repair for a friend, coils & wires.

After that comes a 262 I'm going to go over before it changes hands.

Just doing a ground up restoration with paint on the D-33 LeSabre, unfortunately somebody decided to paint it green before I got it.View attachment 477285View attachment 477286
IMG_9707.jpegGot everything now, new old stock cylinder and rings thank you Mark for the rings, piston is in great shape after I shaped it and it micrometred every way which way but loose, my favourite Clint Eastwood movie, don’t forget every which way you can. I love it when he beat the *s-word out of the bikers and they end up working together kind of like government yet not?

Hey, @Tor R ....
On this 242xp I have. I'm starting to think it has the wrong coil. I swapped carbs and still can only get 13,9 out of it. Turning the h screw much past 1 out and it starts to die rather than increase rpms. Thoughts?

I don't think the series had bad coils even though they changed a bit along the way. I don't think they had rev limits on them.
Unported, I usually start at H 1 turn out, but tend to end up many times with a little less H than that. But never below 3/4 before I try another carburetor.

Got three yellows from three different paint cans. I know I can do a good paint job with paint cans, I’m just not sure which yellow is good paint yellow for pre 60s/60s

Who wants to see if I have it?? I got so many saws, I don’t even know what I got. Not really, but really it’s called drunk bulk buy. Not bragging I’m just looking for experts in their beloved field. Unfortunately I love them all unconditionally so I can’t become an expert. I do love my homelite and I am a Savant with homelite and proud of it

So, that looks like the right coil? 🙁
I have 1 more rebuilt carb to try.
