A few weeks ago I had some visitors, AJ, Thomas, and James Wolthuis (Alan's sons)...they left this PM6 with me, NOS but a broken crankshaft.

I tore it down in order to replace the crankshaft, tried to give everything a good clean up while it was apart.

McCulloch always made it obvious which way the rod cap was to be installed, notice the "pips" indicating correct alignment.

That’s going to turn out nice! Did the bearing get replaced or they good?
One was just fine, the other got replaced with another used one. Both got sonic tanked in Berryman’s and checked for smoothness. Anything odd and they get tossed in the yard art box :p
They make good eyes on metal critters.

Thanks for the welcome and being left handed this LH drive should feel more natural 😀
There are a few right-hand McCulloch pull starts and they are comfortable to start for this right-hander. @Junk Meister is correct, that is an oddly built saws, can we get a few more pics of it from different sides?

Thanks for the additional pics, I didn't realize that the bar and chain were on the other side, total flip-flop, that is a first that I have seen! Very cool!!

Edit: Doing a little more looking, I see that it is a McCulloch...lol...the green paint threw me off.

The 33 LeSabre and Thrifty Mac were apparently put together hurriedly to provide a direct drive saw for the pulp wood cutters in Quebec. Power head is the same 33/35/39 design laid on its side, turns out the bar ended up on the left to run the chain in the proper direction. McCulloch used that platform for a number of applications.

I also heard it was a mad dash with homelite for a direct drive but homelite beat them to it

Waiting for parts. So today I decided to clean and lube pots and switches on this old girl. Hasn't been cleaned since new in 1978.
For you younger audiophiles, this is a Sansui 9 watt per channel analog receiver. It makes my Yamaha digital 70 watt receiver sound like a toy.
If you ever heard one of the old receivers, you would want one.

I still have a 7070DB, it should be recapped b4 being returned to service. It might need additional attention as it's been collecting dust for a good number of years. It got put away when I wanted one of those new fangled remote control receivers . . .

I have an old ONKYO receiver that could probably stand the same treatment. Still sounds good though coupled with some Yamaha speakers. :)
