Waiting for parts. So today I decided to clean and lube pots and switches on this old girl. Hasn't been cleaned since new in 1978.
For you younger audiophiles, this is a Sansui 9 watt per channel analog receiver. It makes my Yamaha digital 70 watt receiver sound like a toy.
If you ever heard one of the old receivers, you would want one.

The old Sansui's were a good bargin in their day.

I still have a 7070DB, it should be recapped b4 being returned to service. It might need additional attention as it's been collecting dust for a good number of years. It got put away when I wanted one of those new fangled remote control receivers . . .

My friend's dad had a Sansui set-up when I was in high school that would blow you right out of the house. I think he used the Bose uni-directional 901 speakers. Nakamichi was making good equipment back then as well. I had a Nakamichi car receiver that would shake the windows.

Amazing what a good cleaning will do. In younger days I would crank up to half throttle. Now at 67, put my hearing aids in and tickle the throttle. Good enough. If I could feel it in my chest, I'd think my ticker was having a fit. 😆

242xp muffler...
What were they thinking?

3 3/16" holes...that's it 😳
I had to cut off the entire deflector assembly to get this far. No way to remove the baffle without cutting the thing in two. I'll just drill holes, make a new deflector and call it good. Geeze...almost as bad as the 1/4" exhaust port on the 136-142 Huskys.

372xp build for a friend...ground-up. Runs and cuts great. Blue, limited coil, tachs to 13+.
But...comp is only 155. This was an experiment with the Duke's hard-chrome topend. Sq is .032 even with BGD so...
Minor porting consisted of widening the exhaust port, widening the transfers at the base and cleaning up casting imperfections including to the piston. No changes to port timing as I don’t have the tools or skills for that :p. Caber rings. Muffler modded, dual port, port matched.

Am hoping comp will increase with time…we’ll see…

Did you use spray paint? If so, custom mixed or something close to Homelite blue?

I just used the light blue metallic, it’s a little bit bright and bold but it’s quite a beautiful colourIMG_9589.jpeg

Just finished paint on the XL-700, next is the water slides, I bought stickers as well in case I screw up the slides. Thank god for Leon, he had a new piston and rings. Surprisingly the cylinder is in good shape. I’m glad I didn’t test fire before tear down

On your recoil.... Is that white on blue or blue on white? You got very crisp detail, ANY insight on how you detailed it or are you "JUST A NATURAL ARTIST"
