That's a good looking saw. This one going to be OEM or big bore cylinder?Husqvarna flippy caps and momentary switch as well as a Solo 681 crank on this build.

Damn nice work.Half of the top step on my drill press pulley has been broke off since i bought it years ago and the pulley for this 1980's unit is proprietary and unobtanium so decided to just attempt fixing it. This cast was a pain in the azz to weld. Its like welding dirt. It ain't pretty but should work

Own idea i guess? Not sure what you mean. Just cleaned up the to be welded surfaces, preheated, fired up the welder with some 4043 and went to town.Nice repair. Your own Idea or did ya get some pointers?
View attachment 445599View attachment 445600View attachment 445601Discovered a new cleaner for carbon on these little Stihl 024’s and 026’s where the muffler just blackens the inside corner on the saw. This one was the worse I’ve seen. The whole area was black as coal. This bore cleaner and a toothbrush killed it. It’s not white, probably will never be, but it’s lots better.
A bunch of Seal-All…should be fineView attachment 445052View attachment 445053intake leaks at the seem closest to the cylinder, that would have been fun to "tune out" of the saw!
I'm a big believer in verification with the mitty- vac on the old saws.
I sealed all the surfaces with a yamabond/ gear case silicone. Tomorrow I'll get to see if I over did it and sealed the impulse port too lol.
