I have never purchased an Xl-925 variety that didn't have bad wiring or a scored piston.
Had to get an atrocious LBR piston that needed alot of work to fit.

Here’s that WCS muffler after half a tank of fuel including an initial tuning session after porting.
I’m gonna seal the 2 halves with some ultra copper.
Hopefully that’s all it needs to eliminate the “splooge “

Good to know. I have 3 of these out now, 2 with tree services. I’ll contact and see how they are doing.

Well, not really on the bench, but on the fish cleaning station... Caught at Padre Island National Seashore a few days ago. Almost made up for the excruciating pain I felt the next day after stepping on a big stingray!

Amsoil saber. 32:1. A lot of the splooge I believe is from the initial tuning session. I start out tuned really fat just to get them running. I then make a few cuts to get the saw hot and then start leaning it out and making more cuts until I’m happy.

intake leaks at the seem closest to the cylinder, that would have been fun to "tune out" of the saw!
I'm a big believer in verification with the mitty- vac on the old saws.
I sealed all the surfaces with a yamabond/ gear case silicone. Tomorrow I'll get to see if I over did it and sealed the impulse port too lol.

Salvaging the cells, Sanyo UR18650RX, 3.6Volt, 2Ah, 20Amp discharge.
That is the voltage after having sat really everywhere at my place since I bought it a couple years ago.

Looks like one had a chance and one had none at all.

The top one has multiple issues, the scored piston is the least troublesome.

The bottom one actually runs, but I don't dare fire her up now that I know the piston is installed the wrong way around.
