How do you repair those? I have some old 266se coils in about the same condition.
Most of the times a generator fails, the failure occurs here:

From the time the generators came out, in the late 70s and up until today, the manufacturer has used a crimp sleeve, generator winding -> wire.
When I change the wire I always solder the connection, now and then it happens that generators that look flawless, have a failure right here.

Finally close with epoxy glue.

A generator costs $150-200 today, a lot of money made on such a simple repair.

Have you ever bothered with replacing wires on coils? Specifically, the 2-pc early Husky

Never, but I think you have to sacrifice one set to find out how the wires are mounted in the coil inside.

With the generators I cut with a Stanley knife until I got far enough in to see how I would lay a new wire.

The end is just to make sure the plastic is roughened up enough to give a good grip for the epoxy.

Project isn't on the bench, but I need to get off my butt and do it. Valve adjustment and carbon cleaning on an Onan P216-G mounted on a 416H WheelHorse.
@Onan18 you may have some input just going by your handle. I'd appreciate it if you have input, 1000+ hours on machine, I doubt if PO did any major work. I'm not a budding mechanic, just looking for any tips.

I have all that, and years of automotive and small engine experience.
I was looking for any tips and tricks regarding the Onan P series in particular. I have never tackled more than maintenance service on these smooth powerful beasts.

The engine should be operational, maybe the seals need to be replaced. The gear is broken, $50 repair kit plus 3 bearings or a Chinese gear for $12 / New original $120 / Desert in the gear plus the largest spool

How does a deck get warped?

Could have been any number of things, sometimes from impact but there is no evidence in this instance. In some cases the decks are welded too hot and then cooled too quickly at the factory. Then after a few hundred hours they will start to deflect from the torque of the belt.

I even heard the owner's ideas about lowering the cutting knives to level the area for mowing
