Pile o crap Craftsman mini tiller. Guy says it won't start. A pull on the rope revealed that it's very likely lacking in the compression department. It's 2 stroke and there's straight gas in the tank. If I'm feeling up to it tomorrow I'll pull the muffler off and look at the piston. Got my second Moderna corona vaccine shot this morning and starting to feel like crap.

Absolutely nothing today. Very achey.
Before I closed up the garage last night I quickly pulled the muffler off the mini tiller and confirmed my suspicion. It's dead. The rear plastic engine shroud/crankcase cover was also loose, so it died from a combination of straight gas and a massive air leak.

I've just been relaxing and puttering around today. Taking Tylenol, vitamin C, D and zinc. Starting to feel better. Back to work tomorrow.

I'll bet that's the first set of dished low comp. pistons you ever installed Mike. LOL!! Nice oil pan on that Chevy I think!!
I stayed with the dished stock pistons. I don’t want to have to much compression for pump gas and would like a little wiggle room if I happen to get fuel that isn’t the best. Should be about 10.5:1 comp.

Had a nice 046 I’ve been using for awhile, buddy that does all my saw work got a pile of 064’s in and that saw has been on my want list for awhile. He was up for trading saws and put together a nice OEM saw for me. The black wrap material wasn’t available at the time he out this one together, but said he used to run this material logging in the 80’s and 90’s and it’s super comfy. Not sold on the color yet but it does feel very nice. It just had a muffler mod for now but will woods port it and maybe a squish band cut if I decide I want it. Will sport a 28”-32” bar so stock will be plenty...but I don’t own a saw that isn’t modified so we I’ll see! Very clean saw and am happy with it. 55A9688D-CD34-41A7-9CA3-697832F9DBFD.jpeg74DB185A-721C-4CCC-AE29-0FC5CC9BB63D.jpeg D621D45F-64B0-4014-B5E6-6278835E371E.jpeg2391B86A-A381-4F83-B4D1-C6BAB609119C.jpeg

Very nice saw! I kinda like the blue handle bar wrap. The blue and orange go well together in a strange way.
Besides .... it definitely identifies the saw as yours.

Reassembling this ms291. Found it at the scrap yard in a pile of junk but it was complete. Guy said take it.. Piston had a hole in the top which I guess is a common problem. Was able to save the cylinder so whipping it back together with a *s-wordty cheap piston kit and seals. I have low expectations for longevity on this one so time will tell20210520_172652.jpg
