Got my 58 Evinrude Fastwin 18 fired up after sitting since September of 2020. Percolated some fresh 24:1 through the fuel system and it fired up 3rd pull. Didn't even have to tweak the carb although I will double check the tune on the water Saturday.

image.jpg Stihl 031AV acquired in a trade from a good friend. Was his first saw, hard to believe he didn’t want to keep it. I replaced impulse line and fuel line. Reinstalled the points & condenser that had been replaced with a chip or something. Rubbed on it a bunch with Flitz to bring the paint back. And cleaned it from inside out. Runs great and will occupy a spot in my older Stihl collection. 9B8F7F91-A5EA-4C2F-97C6-8C1435F561C9.jpeg

Annnnnnd the party's already over. Reason # 845,654,455,565 why aftermarket parts are such a toilet. This happens to be a little red barn piston. First one I ever bought. Now the last too. Guess I'll just run the top ring as see what happens

Out of all the aftermarket pistons I've seen the ones from LRB are the worst. Casting looks awful and if its for the McCulloch the tolerances are garbage.

It's junk alright. I wish meteor made this new version piston I needed. Took a chance on what was available. Got kicked in the sack lol

Plastic carb Briggs for a fuel system cleaning. Brass plug in the jet assembly came out when I was trying to pop it out of the carb body. I'll have a new jet assembly tomorrow.

I ran out of room on the bench(s)...I needed to send out a part so I decided I would move all the large frame stuff over and get it sorted out. A few surprises, if anyone needs an NOS clutch cover (black) for one of the left hand start McCulloch saws I may have what you need.

Wasn't that just retarded? Didnt even do one lick of port work to that thing. The stuff people pull outta their asses in those groups:BangHead:
But but but… But there’s 30,000 of them. That’s where it’s at, doncha know?

A 372. Came to me after seller had paid someone to ruin it. Original cylinder probably just needed a tidy but instead an AM big bore kit was installed, very poorly.
I put together the cylinder that was originally on my MMWS saw with a piston and ring out of my 2171 after I Meteor'd it. What a bitzer...
Good runner now and has got my average cost on this chassis down a bit...:pIMG_20210521_174245.jpg IMG_20210521_153929.jpg IMG_20210511_095853.jpg Screenshot_20210511-170035.pngIMG_20210511_095044.jpg

Yep. I made that mistake once when I was 16 years old I put the piston in backwards on my 250r three wheeler. Won’t do that again. It ran for about 10 minutes. Luckily it was an older steel cylinder and could be bored bigger.

The backass piston put the ring join dead smack in the middle of the exh port. The snag in the port is easily smoothed out so once some rings come in the big bore kit is complete again. Just didn't want to use it on a '372'. Some crusty old 365 or 2065 no Speciale would be a better host to my way of thinking.
