I rebuilt a early small end rod 357 a year ago with a meteor (yes there was more side to side play because of the smaller rod).... but they just needed a beater saw to earn them money. That saw is still cutting to this day with the tree service. Saws are tough.

I got tired of seeing fines in the intake tract of the little dolly 421. Tried greasing the seal. No success.... I took a closer look and noticed the fines were passing through the actual filter media . Had this happen on a few other saws. K and N filter oil to the rescue... problem solved. The filter oil is designed to be used on cotton flocking type material, which is what these filters are made of.8202B3E7-A0A4-41D7-ABEB-298E66115EFC.jpeg088290C4-8CDE-495D-9899-AA3E6799FC9F.jpeg 0D6FCAAC-C698-4FED-9445-112D4CC7E937.jpeg Nothing in the intake tract. I wish I took a before photo.

A neighbor just pushed a riding lawnmower up in my yard.
Almost new looking Craftsman 20 hp. B&S.
Said it's mine now.

Well it has a broken intake valve pushrod.
No other damage that i can see, valves push in and out, piston is intact no holes dents.
Good feeling compression.

The valve adjusting locknut looks like what we used on the dirt track car.
The rocker stud looks cheap and the pushrod is aluminum tube with steel ends.
Dang tube looks like a section of arrow shaft.

Looks like it had too much valve lash so the pushrod started rubbing the plastic valve guide wearing the aluminum pushrod thin.
It bent at that worn spot and dropped the the valve cap creating more clearence .
The intake valve stops opening killing the motor due to no fuel/air charge.

I need to get a pushrod and guide then give it a spin.

So all new Toro Powerclear snowblower engines are made in China now (might be all series) and they are basically copies of the Honda motors. They have fixed a jet (use the same jets as Hondas) and it bothers me that they don’t run smoothly. They are too lean. I discovered a guy who makes an adjustable jet that allows you to fine tune it. I’ve bought a few and they run great.

There’s an entire subculture that buys these engines (predator is one version- $99 at Harbor Freight) and “hot rods” them. They start out as a 212cc 6.5hp and guys get 13-20hp out of them. Mainly used for mini bikes and go carts. Quality I’ve heard is hit or miss.7E8C3469-711F-4E7D-BA4D-ADA4137BEA79.jpeg

Built my friend @rattler a 262xp tonight. I cleaned the original KS cylinder and it looked Brandy new, put a new Meteor piston in it and new OEM seals, MM with a dual port out let now. I am sure he will port it and make it a runner real soon.IMG-20180907-WA0017.jpeg IMG-20180907-WA0026.jpeg IMG-20180907-WA0032.jpeg IMG-20180907-WA0036.jpeg

Will this jet fit the Honda too, or just the clones?
