Every small engine shop ive ever seen (in MI) does this? Maybe the difference is that they advertise that policy. The (crappy) stihl dealer near me has a big sign to the effect that payment must be made in full in 30 days or the equipment will be sold to recoup costs.
They may post that sign. But I bet if push comes to shove, it may not work the way they think.
The regular average Joe may just see that and go with it. But if they got a lawyer and fought it, the outcome may be a bit different than what the sign says.
The sign may be "store policy", but the law may be a little different.
All states have different laws. I am not privy to the intricacies of that states laws.

Trying desperately to finish this Asian 440 build.

Every turn has another issue to fight. Coulda done 2 oem saws and been done already.

One issue that really sucked was the oil pump tube. The oem won’t fit the case and the Asian line is loose if you place it in an oem pump.

Replacing any bad/misfit parts with oem as I can.

Quality here is far worse than the 660 builds from 2017 were IMHO.

That why when I builded mine I used a tun of oem parts even then you still need to massage here and there to get some things to work right in the end it's sill fun. Lol

Did some scrubbing and lite sanding on the cylinder of this 460 I’ve been werking with.

Piston after some scrubbing and maybe a bit too much sanding.

I’m hoping the cylinder is salvageable and I’m planning on a meteor piston kit.

Whadda you say OPE?

I’ve ordered some 2” scotch brite balls and I’m gonna give her some of that when I’m ready to assemble.

Guy before me changed the top end but didn’t change the seals.
I think we know what happens then.

I’m just hoping he doesn’t need another new cylinder.
Definitely new piston but you should be able to save the cylinder.

Just a small state being run by Democrats and libtards.
Ya know, im all for free speach, but theres a time and place for stuff like this and theres a reason theres off topic threads. Not everybody on here is a conservative/republican. Im a democrat, pretty damn liberal too. I smoke pot, am pro choice, dont believe in god and believe in social programs that help people. Does that mean im retarded? Itd be great if the namecalling and political BS could stay where it belongs, far away from chainsaws, part of why i hang out in a place like this and not on facebook etc...sorry to get all serious, rant over.

Jeff,

In Georgia for sure, and I am fairly certain in all other states, a mechanic can file a lien on a piece of repaired equipment that has not been paid for. In GA. once you do so you have to send three certified letters, one every 30 days. If they do not pay for the repair in full and pick it up after 90 days it is legally yours.

So who pays for your labor? And who pays for the labor to remove those parts?

Some old school redneck laws are just better.
Heard of a newish back than
Suzuki dr650 donated to a trade school
Because the owner wouldn't
Pay for a clutch
The mechanic installed lol
Heard it was in buckets the first day
Kids seeing how it worked and bored

Jonsered 630 super! Piston, cylinder and bearings are in perfect shape. Gonna do seals, gaskets, fuel line and filter, new coil ect. Not sure what I'm gonna do yet maybe just muffler mod, base delete and timing advance but who knows??? Maybe @rattler might have some insight or want to play with it?
