I've got a couple of MS461s on the bench this morning. One is for the raffle, and the other is for a repeat customer that uses our saws in a firewood operation. We've probably done ten saws for him so far.

Man, I need to buy a couple more raffle tickets. I have lusted after the 461's at my local shop for a while. The only one that would be better is one already Masterminded...

@Adirondackstihl, still pissing with that ms290 i bought from you. pressure and vacuum tested pretty well (leaked down from 7psi to 5psi after a few minutes, held 7-8 in"vacuum) seems like that should be good enough? swapped carbs and still same symptoms. able to get it to run with H and L screws about 1.5 turns out, but after about 2 seconds full throttle it leans out and screams. even if i turn the H screw out 2.5 turns, it spits and sputters, then leans out and screams again. it does sound pissed though :campeon:

still sounds like an air leak, give it the soapy spritz under about 8-10 pounds pressure, all the seams, seals and rubber, it is going lean 98.379% chance air leak, teeny tiny chance fuel delivery issue

hey dave,
yeah thats kinda where im leaning. plenty of fuel on metering side of carb when disassembled after leaning out and quitting. fuel line looks fine. tank vent not an issue. i have another to tear down and give a new top end so might as well do two at once

@cus_deluxe oem fuel line on that 029? (aftermarket ones are notoriously faulty with the sharp bend pinch).
Is the little screen in the carb clean? (for sure?) they can get a film of something over them that restricts fuel flow. (looks like a cobweb to me)
If you had the engine apart, they often leak at the seams and out the bolt holes. Pressurize it and douse it with a spray of soapy water.

Looks to me like the oem fuel line, and ive not had this saw apart but it does have an AM 039 kit on it so it has been apart.
