Updating an earlier post, I found an early non-cat muffler for my 5100S Dolmar and it did seem to help it a bit, installed the AV mounts in my Stihl 024 and repaired several other saws this week. Think I may try my hand at some mushroom hunting for a day or so, also flea market season starts Saturday so I'll see what they have..

Brad are you still gutting the factory vent in the tank housing and then adding a piece of fuel line to tuck the echo vent in next to the carb? Just trying to get an image.
I'm removing all but the large outermost "screen" in the factory vent. I'm then putting the Echo vent on the end of the factory vent hose.

Does the Echo vent allow the tank to bleed off pressure when the saw is hot, or is only one-way like the Stihl vents?

Did you in weld the hoke in the mounting surface?

Flange gasket covers the original impulse hole nicely.

I thought about using a lead shot but why bother.

I just finished two brand new 346XPs. I've found that a ported 346XP will often go lean in a long cut due to the tank vent not being able to flow enough air. The tank draws a vacuum, and the saw goes lean. I've tried different methods of modding them over the years. I decided I wanted something different on these two saws. I started by removing the guts of the factory vent, then re-assemble with only the large outer piece. This allows it to flow plenty air, but it'll also leak fuel pretty badly when full and on it's side. That's not a good deal, since we all know about the "sideways balance" of the 346XP, lol. I posted a thread over yonder, looking for a hose end tank vent that would work in this scenario. It needed to be small, flow plenty of air, and be a true one-way valve. It turns out that Echo makes the perfect little hose end vent. Many of you probably already knew about this part, but I didn't. It's the perfect solution to my problem.

I think I'm going to try this too. I noticed a few weeks back after running my 357.
I put it up on the bench and could hear it whistling from the vent.

Next to my bench at the shop, Oregon
Knocked out the two bg55's I was waiting on carbs for, then got a pressure washer running like a top for the same customer. Left the shop being almost done with a cub cadet 0 turn spring service. Battery was almost dead so hoping a trickle charge and a load test will do it. If not....oh well. lol

Got the push behind edger running last night. Need to find a bolt for the top of the shroud to get them back to the customer. Then i guess I'll see what's wrong with my pressure washer and push mower

I have ten saws that need to be test driven........then packaged up and shipped.

I've been googling "how to clone yourself" today, but ain't really finding any solid info.
Poke a couple of toothpicks in a football. That'll give you the general silhouette
