346 project saw that showed up today. This thing is really clean not sure what the story is other than the guy said it had a cylinder failure. No tag so I think it was a warranty deal.

It has had very little run time and zero scoring on the piston. No cylinder or top cover but most everything else is there.

I have a busted up cylinder to throw on it and play around with. I planned to save it for a winter project but I'm not sure I can wait!

beautiful score!!
When you remove the front handle there is a serial tag on the tank.
Thats how I figured out the year on one of my 346's who missed the serial tag.

Crank is also stamped with year and week, and even the coil has stamp, those two places is very close to when the saw left the factory, 2-8 week is my experience

Guy brought over a 1992 Arctic Cat JAG Special, said it needed the carbs cleaned. I said OK figuring I could go through the Mikuni's no problem. Thought I better try and start it first, no-go, as there is no spark. So much for being in the frying pan, go straight to the fire.

Next to my bench at the shop, Oregon
FS90R, been sitting for who knows how long in a super moist place. Had little to no compression. Adjusted the valves, cranked over without the pull starter and could feel some rough spots. Figured; Hell! Little wd40 in the cylinder outta give it enough of a boost to fire to life again. New carb and fuel filter and a Good engine cleaning. She fire right to life...ran at WOT for a few minutes so it would burn the carbon out...seemed to have a little more compression after that. May try some sea foam cleaner tomorrow and see if it'll blow the rest of the carbon out.

I've got some old saws running that sat for many years an 028 and 029 that were carboned up badly i don't know what mix the owner used but I've been using red armor for a couple of years it's done a great job for me of burning carbon out or getting it to the Point i could Scrape it out of the exhaust.

I've got a 201T from the local tree guy on the bench. Said the clutch was shot. Turns out the clutch itself is OK, but the sprocket on the clutch drum spins freely.

The drum says "Picco Z6" on it. I think you gotta have an exact fit cause that sprocket also seems to drive the oiler.

I ordered new parts from the dealer, but I was surprised when I searched ebay for MS201T noting seemed to come up???
