I do know someone with a tig welder. You could just tap it back right hand thread. Pioneer had that on their 99 cc. Just have to use plenty of loctite and a good lock washer.

Oh yeah that sounds like a option. These things got a small block Chevy piston in them lol

We dont have reideers where I live, but :D, where Sawtroll live, they have them even in their garden :D

Well, at least a bunch of them once visited me at the cabin in Lavangen, where my wood lot is. :D

they got thousand of them :D
@SawTroll , what you say?
If it help I'll take a few Echo's with me up to you

Leave those Echo saws where they are please, I don't want to see them around here. Even the 501SX is a semi-pro saw, posing as pro saw - and the 500 and 490 have less power that any major brand saw of the same size made after the 1950s (Comet and Jonsereds diesels)...

My 34 Turbo Castor(Alpina)weedeater. Wouldn't tune. After a couple frustrating sessions I noticed the fuel line was cracking. Pulled it off the carb, pulled about three inches out of the tank, cut it off reattached it ,tune and then cut for a solid hour no issues. Dang thing is at least 20 years old.

Think an echo 670 gonna make it to the porting bench today. If all goes well it should be back off by quitting time.

Just got a 066/660 together. Found a 011avt laying around in the shop (who knows where it came from) that fired on 2nd-3rd pull so new fuel lines and it's in great running condition. Finished a 359 husky that someone has been waiting on... Hmm, what else...??? Found out my new Miller inverter welder only came with 0.030 gun tips last night as I was putting it together, annoying since I already mounted and pulled through a 10lb spool of 0.035!

Also took one of my Stihl USG's apart to replace the head spring. Pretty big PITA but once it was done and the head tension was reset (via ball socket screws) it worked like new! My only complaint is that with the depth of that grinder they could have put a slide shield on so you aren't binding the shavings up between the vice deck and the grinder base. Also thinking about cutting a wider chain stop in "silvey style" so I don't have to push or pull the chain stop when switching sides of the chain. They do make a razor sharp chain though. My thumb grazed a cutter and can attest to how sharp chain can get. :bash:

Anyhow cleaned the shop some and then turned in for the night. Oh, found out my shop clock is 2hrs and 15min slow when I got up the house at 12:45am when i thought it was 10:30pm... oops!

I'm still into 242's, and I love it!!!
Fixed the xpg system on my old 1989.
Time to go a bit inside.....gasket less and I may port it while I'm there.

A bit worn, but not bad to be from 89 :)
242 piston is very special, the other side is different compared to this side ;)

Those are about the worst...last one I did me and my dad used a giant hook tool that are used to hook toro deck springs. Lots of sweat and swear words.
Big PITA to me means it took me more than 4mins to get back together with a 1/2 busted thumb. The trick is letting the head loose of the ball points to reduce the distance you have to stretch the spring. Then just use a screw driver to pry the head back and then lock the balls points back in. I used my Stihl clutch spring tool that @Definitive Dave got me and was VERY VERY VERY surprised that little hook didnt break when I pulled that head spring back.

Next problem is that i broke the plastic cam lock lever last night. UGH! Wish Stihl would have made it from metal. Oh well I'll call my dealer and get one ordered.

I'd be down for another Stihl USG if I find another used one in Ok condition to rebuild. Been doing lots of grinder repair and mods lately.

Wish there was a Stihl USG angle chart for non-Stihl branded chain...

Worked on a hs45 trimmer. Cleaned carb, put new kit in it...still no worky. Apparently had something stuck in one of the ports/jet hat I couldn't get out. So I purchased a new carb, and after some throttle cable adjustments...ran like a charm.

Then in made some time to play with a 385xp I purchased off of here or AS a while ago. Got it for a decent price...until I found that the case was busted...lol. Most of the cover bolt holes were stripped out, choke lever missing..this one definitely turned into a project.

I need a bit help from your guys.

I got 2 pistons, Husky 42 and 242, and if possible I would like to modd the 42 pistons to be able to perform as close as possible to the 242 piston, both are running on the same type crank.
Reason I'm thinking about this is that Meteor sell those 42 pistons, advertised as 242 pistons though.
So please, give me your advise on how I should modify a 42 piston :) or if it's possible at all :)

You might not like the idea of this Tor, but i have used a Golf piston with a caber ring (on left ) to get a windowed piston and a non windowed piston (Meteor on right) in a 242. I have found that the difference is hardly noticeable but was interested to see if the Golf was a good fit and worth using . It was...
I have also used the same combinations in 42 specials with the same good results. May save you a lot of effort.
