Well...this will be fun 🙄
it gets worse with more disassembling, lol
Guy said, "it runs". Ok, define "runs".
P&c are fine so won't tear the motor down.
Tank is badly melted and the muffler is split down the middle. Carb was encased in crud.
Anyone have an extra 201 muffler for cheap? :p

I ran this thing until the paint melted off it

speaking of srm230s.... I was dropping some junk off at the transfer station last week and there was a brand new looking srm230 in the metal scrap pile. I gave it a pull and it had good compression. seemed to be just missing air filter/cover so I brought it home. Put a bit of gas in it... pull pull pull... nothing. held throttle wide open and gave it a few more pulls, fired to life and billowed smoke. Yahtzee! let it warm up and smoke cleaned up, runs beautifully. Someone flooded it and couldn't get it started? seems crazy to me, but runs great and I used it this weekend no issues. It has the original carb with plug over the mixture screw. I tossed a $10 srm-225 air filter/cover on it. good to go.

Those are great older-designed trimmers. Tough and simple.

today i put a new fuel line and filter on a br380 blower that was running before its owner put an air hose to the fuel pick up and blasted it. it popped the fuel line. i told him that he may have damaged the carb as well. i dont know what happens to them after that? i will run but wont go wide open. is that what happens when air is blown in it?

I picked a couple saws cheap enough for the first time in a long time. Husqvarna 55, 372XT, and 4 bars and a few chains. The 55 allegedly had sparks coming out from the clutch cover, easy fix with the right sprocket for the chain. The 372 is well used but maintained, missing on screw on the muffler bracket, piston looks okay, compression meh at 125-130. Needs a good bath, maybe a set of rings and the carb gone through. This is the first XT saw I've had in my hands.
