I had dj cut some Duke's 066 pistons down for my holzfforma 288s IMG_20240707_125017.jpg
They feel a lot lighter than 288 pistons IMG_20240707_114209.jpg
I marked and ground the pin bosses down with a dremel cutting bit
Then assembled a mandrel inside the piston with a diamond cutting disc to true up the sidesIMG_20240707_131914.jpg
He sent me this ported oem No decomp cylinder
extremely high compression it was a *b-word to start
I thought it would rip the recoil apart but it held up fineIMG_20240707_182854.jpg
Feels very strong heat cycled it today.

There is no possible way to make it worth the time to work on trimmers or blowers...

View attachment 425270

So I do it out of the goodness of my heart...

Mark
I'll never again work on trimmers/brush cutters or blowers and cut off saws
The most aggravating of anything I've ever worked on.

I have a big heart and a small brain...

Some of those "projects" were mine for the museum display, some were repairs that folks brought in. Trimmers and blower were repairs as was the PM610.

It keeps you younger Mark.
I've observed the grins you get when tinkering on stuff or helping someone else get their project moved further along.
I for one appreaciate that kind of dedication. Carry on.
After all what would you do with yourself if you weren't tinkering on small petro consuming devices for a good portion of the day.

Very interesting saw, the magneto can be rotated to retard the timing for starting and then advance it again for running and cutting with that lever by the oiler handle.

Almost there. Chrome plating is coming off the bar, I may just see if hitting it with the surface preparation tool will clean it down to base metal.

I still need to find a suitable muffler, or just display it with the clutch side towards the wall...

That machine was made when men were capable of understanding the effects of ignition timing. Soy latte had yet to be invented.
Soy latte gross. Black coffee please. Every once in a while I’ll splash in some creamer if I’m feeling bitter.

Speaking of soy…I’m so happy the insulation on wiring in automobiles is soy based. Mice and rats love it. So much so that Honda sells “rat tape” to tape up your wiring repairs after they’ve snacked on your wiring harness. So they build cars with wiring that has a soy based coating…and then sell you chili pepper infused tape at $50 a roll to wrap up your repairs afterward. Isn’t that double dipping or some sh/t?

I’m gonna run this sucker tomorrow, early, in the cool. If it all works out I’ll have a video of it.

110cc Dolmar. This saw is incredibly heavy for its size. It is a big saw for sure though, bigger in person than in pics. 7/16” pitch chain on a worn Dolmar bar.

Triage time for this 460 and 461. Bought the 460 on the other forum, USPS didn't update the tracking for 4-5 days so it was assumed stolen. Bought the 461 to replace it then the 460 showed up the other night. Spent more than I intended but I ended up with an extra saw so I can't complain too much.

Heavy duty 3.2mm trim line smacked the line cutter into pieces and then started eating through the shield.

Going to make a new line cutter out of a gang saw blade piece, and try reinforce the cracked shield with stainless steel strips.

Why didn't I stop using the heavy duty trim line?
The job required it as any thinner line just snapped hitting orchard undergrowth.

Why didn't I stop using the weedeater?
I did, but then someone else felt the need to vent some steam and I wasn't about to argue.

kawasaki 53 ?
The above?
Nah!

Generic China made supermarket unit "Iskra" (same PH as current generic units, Gardena, Parkside, Champion,...)
It has been a good unit though, 43cc pushing 1.5kW, but turns only 8500rpm - very torquey though.
I ran a "Brogio" chain flail type head on it once, it smashed through 1" thick wild hazel.
