Not terribly exciting, but needed some attention to keep in service.
Fuel line was broke inside tank, so it is getting both replaced.
Will also take a look at the carb since it's been on the shelf for a number of years.

Moved the Hedge trimmer aside while waiting for duckbill vents to arrive.

Pulled the muffler on the somewhat recent acquisition Solo 667 to do a muffler mod and found stuffs that I wasn't expecting with 165psi compression.

I haven't measured the squish yet (don't know if there is enuf clearance), to remove the base gasket on these without doing some cutting? Or is the base gasket required on this saw with a stock cylinder.
I did not catch a fingernail in the marks looking like grooves in the cylinder. I'll clean up the aluminum transfer next, before adding a new piston, now to find the thread about good methods to remove transfer.

Bearings feel and sounded good.
I'm plan to replacing both crank seals Solo p/n:0054 247 referenced as oil seal 17x28x5 after seeing this. I going to double check the actual size before ordering.

I'm currently looking for the seals and a base or top end gasket(s) for the time being, I did not find a part number in the IPL for the cylinder base gasket separately.
Found a better IPL over at Magnus's site (many thanks) which lead me to finding the remainder of the parts that were needed for this repair. edited: 8-12-23

I do have a piston set incoming already.
What kind of woods porting do these Solos respond to well for an initial effort?

@Mastermind , I saw that you did a Solo 667 a couple of years back. Are there some low hanging improvements that could (should) be made b4 reassembly? I don't have a lathe, but do have a drill press, dremel and flex cable! And maybe a couple other tools....

I don't remember anything about that model. I have notes on the 665, the 681, and the Dolmar 7900. All my notes require squish band and base cuts before porting. I'm sorry I'm not more help.

Got some of the parts for both the hedge trimmer (duckbill vents) and the 667, crankshaft seals, and a piston with a dished out top, not flat or popup (not what I was thinking I was ordering). I didn't do my research properly.

One more thing,Georgia's 2002 GMC Envoy but it didn't fit on a bench . Dang thing has an electric shift transfer case that was acting up .I had to research that one because I had no idea what to do .Turns out to be the mini computor that does the shifting. $200 at a dealer,$25 from E-bay .It's for sale as she replaced it with a Buick Envision that has more bells and whistles than a Cadillac .I'm still trying to figure it out .Certainly isn't like 57 Chevy .

In saw news I'm a candidate for the dumb azz of the month award .Had the damned spacer gasket on the wrong side of the main diaphragm on the Partner .I've done that F-up two times so far on two different saws but 12 years apart . Head squarely up butt causes a lot of frustration .

Looking over a jonsered 2159 with the catalytic muffler tuned up to 13200 out of the cut then tested it on a 12” ash and snuffed it mid cut after 10-12 cuts. Plug looks a bit lean to me still but the high jet is right at the limiter
Amsoil saber 45:1 91 no ethanol gas
Thoughts?

Does this saw still have the plastic intake clamp? If so, I would get rid of it in favor of a metal clamp. I would probably throw a carb kit in it as well.
