Trailer, not a workbench this time. Working on a well used go-kart with the boys today, trying to prove out the drive train and brakes. Needs alot of work overall; several cracks in the frame, 3 tires and rims are shot, no roll cage, no kill switch... but this is how they learn! The 8hp Honda ran with a carb cleaning.... hope to see it rolling under power in an hour or two

This one just got off the bench this morning. This is a 350 that I had built last fall with the OEM 350 jug. A friend of mine wanted the saw, but I wasn’t satisfied with its performance. I bought a Duke’s 346 p&c for it and machined & ported it. Since Sunday, I have ran 6 tanks through the saw and the rings have already started to seat. I had to lean it out some after the 5th tank. This one maintained the stock 350 air filter, but it still pulls real hard. It was holding 11,800 with a fresh chain, which is respectable in my opinion.E41A3422-C237-42A4-9218-FC25589D85D4.jpeg

Got the CT down for some repairs. Replaced the 4 AV’s, straightened (refit) the throttle rod for full travel and finishing up a repair started decades ago. The lower handle support was broken just below the grip and very skillfully welded back. Only they put it back on the saw with burned or missing paint. The rest of the saw is really nice and clean so I cleaned and painted that end of the support. I’ll put it back on once the paint has dried. image.jpg

I just purchased a nice looking CA from a member here that should arrive next week. I’ll set the CA and the CT out side by side. Will be a real nice looking display. Still can’t believe my good fortune with the CA.

And , while I had the paint out I shot this recoil cover for a 117. Looked for a very long time before I found one with all its teeth. (got no holes punched in the basket) I know some folks wouldn’t paint on a saw. I paint for repair purposes and in this case the 117 was built from brand new stuff, so I want the cover to look new as well. This one will look nice. Not all my stuff does.image.jpg

Much nicer than some I have in my display, but then some of these saws worked for a living and others are just suffering from 50 years of neglect.

NOS but it was covered in filth, getting most of the filth off also took some of the paint.

Again there was some paint loss in the cleaning process. This saw had done a bit of cutting.

Finally, Mono 25-14. 22 cc's of gear drive...something

The paint on this one held up reasonably well.

I have a friend with a plasma cutter and using the one factory dawg I had, made me some more. I think he nailed it! IMG_5070.jpeg
And I have been applying much elbow grease to this new to me Dolmar CA. Pretty little saw.

Tidy and absolutely original early 084, still with the early oil pump drive (with the two U shaped springs engaging with the clutch drum) and early twin module unlimited Bosch coil. Been trying for over a year to find a good secondhand cylinder for this saw, and one finally turned up.

The other cool thing is that the original dealer sticker is still on the saw, K C Motors. This was the main Stihl dealer in the Levin area (lower North Island, NZ) and was founded by and named after my wife's grandfather (K C was his first two initials).
