Replacing sealants is inevitable / it is 20 or 25 years oldEfco 8300 The engine works, but it's a little crazy at idle, that's why there was no carburetor, although it's not his fault
Don't forget the variable exhaust port height / timing. Some head mods and port work on the Beta 300. Very minor port work, just a few "tweaks." Most of the work was in the head, I took .025" off the sealing surface just to get to an acceptable squish number (.048".) That meant that the head volume was going to be too small, so I then had to cut the chamber. Stock was 33cc, I'm at 31cc, so I'll still get a healthy compression boost.
Imagine a saw cylinder having this big of transfers. BIG quad transfers and a boost port on the intake side. Intake is case reed, so no intake port in the cylinder, leaves room for the boost port.

I’m not a very good painter, but this Summit Racing stuff turns out pretty nice.Well, my primer & paint showed up today. Hopefully this Friday I can get this 562 case primed & painted.View attachment 362400View attachment 362401View attachment 362402
Got my home-fabbed log splitter mostly done today. I'm going to get some junk fire hose next time I'm at work and use it to secure/protect the hydraulic lines...also need to hook up the battery. I'll then figure out a table design for it after I get some time in actually using it.
Whats a Dukes "reserve" cylinder?Just finished putting this together for a friend of mine. I removed the baffle from the muffler and added a FW side outlet with a deflector. I used a Duke’s Reserve 660 cylinder which I think turned out pretty niceView attachment 362896View attachment 362897View attachment 362898View attachment 362899
I would call it a better-than-average AM 660 cylinder from Traverse Creek: https://www.sawsalvage.co/products/...s-stihl-066-ms660?_pos=1&_sid=bc8104a49&_ss=rWhats a Dukes "reserve" cylinder?
I wonder what the timing is like compared to the Cross performance one that mastermind helped design. I really like that Cross cylinder matched with an oem piston in my 660. I've officially got a season of sawing on it now, probably about 160 gallons through it. Checked it out yesterday, it's right at 180 psi with the base gasket, and the squish was about perfect at .025.I would call it a better-than-average AM 660 cylinder from Traverse Creek: https://www.sawsalvage.co/products/...s-stihl-066-ms660?_pos=1&_sid=bc8104a49&_ss=r
I should have written down the numbers it timed at before machine work. After cutting 0.040” from the squish, it was 99 on the exhaust and 84 on the intake. I didn’t look at the transfers before I raised them.I wonder what the timing is like compared to the Cross performance one that mastermind helped design. It would be nice to have a comparable replacement cylinder in the future since cross jugs are NLA
