It's been a damn good edging machine...never put a dime into it except for blades. Think I bought it around '91/'92 or so. Ain't never missed a beat til the little hiccup yesterday.

I have my 026 back on the bench to improve on the porting and timing.
I have learnt a lot on this site so its time to make the little saw that could even better.

I thought this would interest the folks here.
Check out the piston wash.
It looks like my right transfer is opening before the left transfer so I will need to fix that up

Replacing my MS 461 with a much better saw. Strong in stock form, but doing a muffler mod and base gasket delete. IMG_7300.JPG

Question for you fellers...can I just run aluminum duct tape on the underside of my Husky 55 top cover above the muff? It's got a small crack in it from heat...just wanna try to avoid it getting worse and ordering a new top cover. They're proud of them damn things. Or do I need to hit an auto parts store and get some insulation type tape?...and if so, what brand is worth a chit? I can add some epoxy or otherwise to help it I suppose. Just don't wanna waste time/money on some tape that'll just peel right off the minute heat hits it.

I just thought I would wake up the Stihl guys. As long as the saw has power and a sharp chain, I don't care what brand it is. Local Husqvarna dealer is hard to beat.

I have seen it on saws, and seems to hold up. Cool-it brand thermo tape is what I have been using and works well. If you can wait a few days,PM me your address and I will send you a couple feet. Used on a Jeep V-8 conversion to shield parts from header heat and held up good.

I use this...its a thick foil with heat resistant adhesive. I got it from ebay and it works very well.Photo0871.jpg

Thank you sir...that would be great. If you have a PayPal account, or if you shoot me your physical address in a PM, I'll be more than happy to pay for the material and shipping.

Yeah it'd be nice to know if all those Chinese cranks that are available would hold up for any length of time. I see a lot of 372's for sale on the bay. Really have to wonder what's lurking inside them.

Running some Farmtec ones and seem to be doing fine. 3 are being run hard in tree service work. Good so far, may go tomorrow, many new oem saws have let loose also.

I bet a new carb might be cheap. Check into this.

I would like to build a 372 out of the Chinese case and such

Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
Have put many together using HL and Hutzl parts. Some aftermarket carbs are Zama's with name removed. Have not had a bad case yet and HL p/c $99 kits run just fine.
