So can you now 'rod' the original drain line Will? I've used string trimmer line for a similar job in the past.Did a little bit of Polish engineering to get the dishwasher at least useable. Took a garden hose repair end and put it on the end of the dishwasher drain hose and ran a garden hose to the sump.

View attachment 308605 Here we go! 200 degrees internal temp. They should look like meteorites .

And they do. I used a rub this time with a little heat. Can’t wait. We’ll wrap them up and set them in a cooler to rest awhile. Then we’ll pull em and have some lunch .
14 hours to cook these at about 220-230 degrees.

Cut the copper pipe back to a flat area above and below the clog. Replace it with PVC and a rubber boot. And build a cleanout at the same time.
It's commonly done with cast iron pipe that is rotten.
I know this is your jam Nic but surely a flexi rod into the elbow is a chance of clearing the blob as a primary fix?look a little closer Jeff. Where the drain for the dishwasher is threaded into looks to be a threaded cap onto the copper. Maybe my eyes are not sitting right but I’d thread the cap off and install a larger elbow and reduce it on the vertical. Old plumbing elbows are not sweeping elbows like the pvc used today. I see lots of these older tight radius fittings plug up due to the sweep
Thanks for the great idea. I'll suggest it to my dad. House was built in 1934 and who knows when the dishwasher was added. Yup the elbow is threaded into the cap.look a little closer Jeff. I hear you. So... PVC wouldn't be a good option? Should flow better with newer PVC...look a little closer Jeff. Just looked again on PC. Are mac unions common in plumbing?

Those older echo tophandles/rear handle based tophandles are pretty bulletproof and simple. Not really fast cutters. But reliable and get the job done.Newest addition to my fleet. Runs excellent! Just need to get a bar and chain. Setting it up 14" 3/8 low profile.

They're great little saws. Picking up the bar and chain tomorrow evening after work and then putting her to work cutting up the rest of a small tree that came down during Henri. Those older echo tophandles/rear handle based tophandles are pretty bulletproof and simple.
