Cub Cadet LTX1045 hydro 46" getting some love. New battery, new carb, 2 tire tubes, engine service, valve cover gasket, spindle assembly, deck belt. Got the oil change done this evening. Tomorrow I'll finish off the engine service and valve cover gasket. Wednesday I'll do the spindle and deck belt.

This is one that came of the bench yesterday. 028 44mm I put an AM 46 Super top end on it while I was cleaning up the OEM top end.
It was sitting in the scrapyard with a broken tank, 20$ brought her home and a good cleaning and replacement tank bought from a member on here.
I did a electric ignition swap and a little muffler mod. I advanced the timing quite a bit just to wake it up ( probably 1/2 a key way) ,shes an easy starter .20210817_110257.jpg 20210817_110313.jpg 20210817_110326.jpg 20210817_110336.jpg

Someone on this site or on AS did mention that the 048 have a sound only they make.

Been looking forward to hearing how it sounds.

Especially with a large hole.
They certainly do have their own sound I had one for a while.
Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present a completely put back together 1979 048 Stihl.

So this is what the saw used to look like at one point. It was much more dirtier than this.

At the moment it doesn’t run until I put the flywheel back in but I’m missing the key for it.

Putting it together allowed me to see if all the parts and bolts are all there which unfortunately some are missing which I shall remedy soon.

Once all the stuff is finally together, I’ll put in fresh Red Max true fuel and some bar oil to see if everything works.

If all goes well, maybe a little run on the dyno to see what the power output is ;)

Don’t be surprised if you have to change it out to the new style coil and flywheel. I ended up having to do that with mine. The pto side bearing in that case can be very difficult to come by.

@PogoInTheWoods I took your recommendation and picked up one of these kits and I gotta say, I should've gotten one sooner. Unfortunately, my dad and brother saw it before I could hide it somewhere in the shop so I suspect I won't be the only one using it. Also, my 461 is hitting the bench because it has developed a nasty habit of dying when the clutch side is tilted down. I'm guessing I installed the seal incorrectly, but if I'm lucky it will only prove to be the fuel line is sitting wrong.

I have the same kit, pretty good for the price.
The coils are soft enough if things go wrong you can get them out BTDT

The old "Command and Go!" Super Camango , flea market find.
Starter pulley was loose, starter dogs were not retracting, kill wire was frayed, and recoil spring was broken. Someone really knew what they were doing?
Muffler cover is missing,
I rebent the end of the spring and fixed the starter dogs ,put new starter cord in it starter it on prime then promptly pulled the knot out of the starter cord . 20210819_094512.jpg 20210819_094459.jpg 20210819_094521.jpg 20210819_094531.jpg 20210819_094538.jpg

:eek:Uhhh.... you ok? Did your face flare red, steam out the ears and parts thrown on floor?

:sisi1:sisi1
A 2100 is currently occupying my bench, and a quick p/v test doesn't need to be on the bench, right? I shoulda known my "quick project" would turn into this, but I'm an optimist. I am getting tired of crap not working right or failing on me, though.

I’ve done that too, work on the floor when there is no room on my bench.

Or make a temporary bench to work on extra stuff.

Floor work is hard on the body

..... And did a "quick pressure/vac test" on my 461 that turned into so much more! My saw is eating its plug threads, apparently. BTW I'm liking the amount of oil I'm seeing in the saw. Blue Husky oil for the win!

Mastermind has mentioned those plug threads specifically in a thread, cant remember which one though?
Send it off to Scar for some welding, I've never been confident in the threaded inserts, unless they are made for a ford Triton motor.

Is that a mattyo blue high top on the 288 or an eliminator?? Do you like the fit and finish?

It’s a @Mattyo hightop. I gotta say, I love it. It fits perfect, I like the finish, and it is one of the few reasons I’m keeping that saw.
