Got some good eats on my bench tonight. Too bad some of his friends never came with him.

Here’s the Solo 70 I promised. Runs real good with the timing advanced. (Way I found it ) 82011A04-F508-452F-AB0A-04F906FFB52A.jpeg
I would love to know what the loud whistling noise from the fan side is. There is nothing touching, rubbing, whatever. I swear.

I think it is just air.
Thanks! I needed that. These folks were frontrunners in the use of plastics in their saws. This saw is from about 1960 and it has plastic fuel tank, gas and oil levers, air filter and cover and yes, a very thin plastic fan attached to the aluminum collar with the dogs fir the starter. The fan is attached to a very heavy magneto rotor Thru the aluminum collar.

What oil and what ratio are ya flavoring that with?
Gonna rub a little red armor on it and sprinkle some high test 91 octane fuel on it. Put er on the BBQ on a cedar plank for 30 minutes a side. Toss the fish and eat the cedar plank. Best way i found yet.

That sounds right and the absence of a decomp would confirm. Did you look at the carb yet Tom? Very likely has the HDA87 and a KS cylinder.

Tou are correct. The piston is a little bit scored, cylinder is fine. A nee piston and she joins the fleet.

I been searching for a good KS piston for a while. Not an easy thing to find. I got one the same way and she's been in a box for a few years waiting for the piston. I know I could use a Meteor but....

Yeah, I know. I'm just going to slap a meteor in her and let her rip.

So how do you tell the date by the serial number?

The first digit is the year. I think yours is an 84. In 1987 (through 96) they went to black tags and you could tell the week and number of units that week, but I don’t believe that holds true on the silver tags.

Right side up or upside down?
