Any place that does automotive propane should be able to do the 100 lb tanks. 100 lb tanks use a spitter valve just like automotive. 100 lb tanks aren’t usually filled by weight. They’re filled by volume. 80% max fill which is also where the spitter valve will begin to spitter liquid propane.

Hope they aren’t expired.

I am not a expert on propane but I did learn a bit when looking for tanks to make my boiler. Being as they are large volume they aren't hydro tested like welding cylinders. They hold liquified gas so they are relatively low pressure compaired with welding and oxygen cylinders. The big thing they look for is the manufacture tag or stamp. No tag or stamp and you are usually out of luck. If it has a tag and it's not rusted all to heck. They will check the valve, fill it and send you on your way.

Correct. Propane is stored at “low pressure”compared to oxy/acetylene type tanks. Propane tanks have a date stamped on the collar. The date refers to the age of the valve. A tank can be refilled for up to 10 years from the date. There’s places that will test the tanks, replace the valves and recertify them for another 10 years. The smaller BBQ sized tanks typically aren’t worth the expense of being decertified. The large 100 lb tanks are definitely worth getting it.

:clap2: I like learning new stuff. Didn't know about the 10 year on the 100lb tanks. They have never checked the ones at our hunting camp. They are from the 70's ............ Think the regulators get swapped out every once in a while but thats all they have done.

More quarantine wrenching. BR340 for a coworker tank vent replacement. Also tossed in a new plug and fuel filter. Ran for 40 minutes at full tilt no issue.

Checked out the pair of 028's I bought last fall from David Young. Ill be able to build 1 from the 2. Need to put together a parts list.

Setup my wall heater for the shop. Need to get my 2 100lb propane tanks filled which might be a challenge as they're both from 1999. Using a single Mr Heater tank mounted at the moment but it's not cutting it too well. It's only 15k btu. The wall mounted is 30k btu and has a fan.

Looks like the 028 has had an Echo tank vent upgrade. Usually they have a pc of fuel line with grub screws in it (unless my rusty brain is wrong).

Found a spare battery terminal cover at work. Installed the 4 flat bracket. Got a cool piece of paper in the mail at work...not much tonight. Returning the 340 tomorrow and the snowblower and generator are being picked up tomorrow after work. Dad's covid test was negative too!
