I have been tripping over this for a few weeks so I decided it was time to have a closer look.

I have it apart and mostly cleaned up at this point.

The muffler is pretty bad, recoil spring broken, one ring is stuck , I haven't checked the coil yet but the potting epoxy is cracked.

Ended up getting power back this morning, was without power for about 36 hours. Got my ride back yesterday as well! Feels like brand new again. Only other thing she needs is a new set of sneakers which she'll get next year. Decided to make an autopsy video of the failed PTU as well. Have a few generators coming in for repair this week coming up as well.

Johnson 35 that overheated bad. Guy put multiple water pumps in it but couldn't get it to cool...I was tasked with getting it to cool. New water pump, driveshaft tube spacer, head gasket and it still wouldn't pump. Pulled powerhead and found this... totally melted..it's NLA, hopefully we can find one if he decides to repair it.

Got her all finished up. Ended up robbing an exhaust tuner from a Johnson 25 and once I put it all together it worked! Now the guy will be able to take grandpa's ashes for a final ride this weekend.

Version 2.0 using Delphi weather pack connection. I wanted something a bit more weather proof than the spade connectors. This way I don’t need to worry about dampness or vibrations. View attachment 253418
Those connectors were used in BRP (Sea-Doo) watercraft for years. VERY rarely were a problem. You should not have to fool with that unless a stick or whatever damages a wire near it.
