Free 50cc ( scored ) from scrap metal, cleaned up well. Meteor piston, I didn't remember to take measurements but the piston ring pin seems to be a bit thinner vs oem husky ? 346 low hour saw, 10 tanks.

Tips on removing the flywheel spring/pawl screw, and the oiler worm gear?


My only thought is to slot it for a flat head screwdriver.

Not positive, but are those pins holding them? I remember a bunch of husky & poulan saws that punch out from behind.

I also seem to remember making a puller for a worm gear like yours from a pipe coupler and some micc bits. Might need to take it down to the hardware store for some test fitting.

Thanks Steven. I saw on the utubes about the worm puller. Might have to go that route. Not sure on the pawls. I’ll put a vice grip on it and see if it turns out.

On the macs you can usually punch the pawls pin from the inside. Can you see the pin on the Inside? Or was it not drill all the way through?

Yes, the hole goes to the backside. I searched pawl screws and saw this which is why I asked. Maybe some models are screw, some not. I’ll see if a punch moves it tomorrow.

Do the pins go flush to the inside? Can you see threads?

Well that cleaned up well 088 is done! one down only about 10 old work saw's to go lol.
Didn't need much only put a new oiler/ 1 AV mount/ spark plug and new clutch/drum in it.
I had already done this saw up new rings/plastics and whatnot in about 2010-11.

West German built side tensioner 034AV. New intake boot and impulse hose. High speed needle wasn't doing much and I couldn't get it to four stroke at wot. Found leaking intake boot and improper impulse hose. Runs great now and I can get it to four stroke at wot. Just needs final tuning in the wood.
