One part I do wish they would build is those two piece ignitions for the older 266 and 61's. I tried the Brazilian ones and didn't have much luck. I three or for carcasses that will stay..carcasses or go for scrap because of that.

The new OEM ones aren't any good? That's surprising.

I hear ya there, but other than fitment issues(nothing a file would not take care of) I've good luck with the coils and modules, from a company in Brazil called MAGNETRON.
That is however a very good consideration when building a saw though, I'd rather use a 268/272 case used or AM just to use the better/easier/cheaper one piece modulated coil.

I did not know they were available, will have to check in on that, and I just put a new coil in a fellas 266 from Brazil. Besides MAGNETRON(Which has the Husqvarna logo on them), Raisman makes/has versions for the 61-266 as well.

One chassis I hope to revisit is those 61-272's. I have a bunch and they need a reason to exist. Might be fun to build a set of the 200 saws to "retire" the project saws from last season. 254, 272, 298?

Yup, a changing of the guard for the coming year. And, it's time move that 298 up near the front of the project list! Gotta have a Heavy Metal Husky day in the woods with the old stuff. My 2100CD, 285CD, 480CD, and L77 are all waiting on you my friend. :) Think the guys might enjoy a video on those old saws.

Did you actually buy them through Husky???

If you try and order the two piece ignition from Husky the primary coil is changed and requires an adaptor to bolt it into the saw.

The price on those coils has come down since the prices have been re-aligned. Retail is $80 for the primary and $40 for the secondary. $120 isn't cheap, but it was up around $200 for the set at one point. Of course, in many cases, only one of them might be needed.

That would be a good show, no doubt about it. I'm close to wrapping up my 2100 project myself, look forward to seeing how it runs.

The Merc-O-Tronic 79 makes short work of finding which unit is bad, module or coil.

HL Supply has the coil listed for the 61/66/266 which is currently out of stock at the moment, as I recently tried to purchase one.

Did not see the module until I looked at the 61, this should go in the 66/266 as well I would think, no? @Gentleman

From the pictures these are the ones I've had good luck with, and are priced well. I would like to try them on my next 266 revival.

After some reflection, besides the 272 family of saws, what I really would like to see from these folks is, the parts from the kit saws. Why only offer just some of the parts for sale, when the entire saw is being manufactured? It's like a big tease if you ask me.

Kingdom !!....my kingdom for brake bands and clutch drums for 42...242 xp 254 saws...without ...you dont have a saw.
Service parts in general get a vote from me and helps enable a economic "Safe" running repair .

Say it Simon! I'd throw in service parts for the Stihl 041FB/AV, McCulloch 10-10's and Pro Mac 55's, Homelite XL12's and Super XL's and the Jonsered 70E. Believe it or not there are still guys out cutting firewood with saws like this to this very day, and I have to try and scrounge parts to keep them going. While FarmerTec pretty much has the Stihl 036 covered, its counterpart in this part of the world is the Husqvarna 266, which is not so much. These are both very popular firewood saws around here. So any 266 parts as mentioned before would be greatly appreciated. The 254 that I rebuilt last summer was very challenging to find all the parts necessary to make it a viable saw again. Now who would want to see something like this, put in the scrap bin?
