That makes sense. E fuel here works ok in a saw for about 4 months. After that it starts detonating or pre-igniting and they don’t turn off immediately with the switch. Something is hot in the combustion chamber and saws will diesel for a few seconds after switching to the OFF position
Thats troubling.

I remember talking to you about 10 years ago the first time it happened and getting some thoughts from you. It’s a bit unnerving when a ported 066 pings for 5 seconds after you shut the switch off lol
Thats not good for sure.
Ethanol is one of the biggest welfare scams ever. Not only that it drives the cost of food up and the quality of gasoline down.

I understand that it takes about a gallon of diesel to produce a gallon of ethanol. Is that accurate?

One thing about wster oils like Dominator or K2 is one should be aware they are not very good at protecting engines from rust during storage. Its just a property of ester oils.
A little fogging oil cures that.
I always store ope with mineral oil + aspen 4T....

But thing is.....al my ester oils ( Motul 710 2t...) has higher TBN then mineral 2t oils...

TBN 2.x vs 1.x.....

TbN is a measure of acid neutralizing ability. It doesn't stop the esters from breaking down in the presence of water vapor and oxygen.

Still using cheap/plain-jane Lucas 2 cycle in all my 2 strokes. Can find it at any O'Reilleys napa or autozone for $9.99 a quart. Year #3 in the saws using lucas.

Funny thing: completely overhauling an 80hp suzuki 550 2 stroke. Oil injection tank full of lucas. Just bout finished out. Compression was a little low at 7000 miles. Ring gaps sloppy, piston skirts deformed and sloppy.

Anyhow, I noticed that the throttle cable is broken! The oil injector pump side if the cable is snapped and wasn't working. I dont know how long this motor has been fed oil metered only for idle, while I full throttle the fker every day.

The bottom end is just fine. No signs of heat not a spec of blue discoloration on the rod ends. So just a routine top-end refresh.

$120 for a freaking throttle cable. As much as a forged piston.

Is that in a Bearcat, or something else?

Yep, I do firewood, slabs and logs with ole sht box bearcats.

Or really any older 2 stroke utility sleds. So ive used the lucas oil stuff all my chainsaws, yamaha, polaris, ski doo and arctic cat utility sleds, evinrude and yamaha boat motors and solo ice augers.

The lucas stuff pours from a jug at 30-40 below zero. When I go into town for supplies, I despise bouncing all over trying to find some sort of special oil. So the lucas stuff is convenient.

Lottsa amsoil zombies up here. I dunno how people can afford that sht.

The reason I like the bearcats over the polaris widetrak lx:

Wildwood hydraulic brakes vs cable brakes.
Stronger motors with more torque with aggressive ports and flat exauhst ports. 488 fuji has a round, lazy exhaust. Giant koyo barrel roller bearings on pto side. As opposed to spindly ball bearings in the polaris fuji.

On the bearcat 440 ll, longer stroke than the skandic 440. 65 mm vs 61 mm. Better wide ratio clutching as well.

Dumbest fkn utility motor ever: 600 etec.
I call em al gore 2 strokes, just look up iso flex grease crank bearings.

I've hated working on ski doos since I was 16 years old. I like our mercan sht. Long live polaris and arctic cat!

If I wasn't constantly spending money on my timbersale, the polaris titan would be my choice.

There is a 2013 Bearcat for sale local to me that needs a few things. How has the parts supply been since Arctic Cat folded up and reopened??

No idea. Check all the exploded diagrams from the online parts stores like babbits or country cat.

I will say this: the oddball 16" x 156" x 1" 2.52 driver track is no longer made. It was used on the bearcat 440 ll, the many later bearcat 570's. So if it's one of those, u gotta snatch up used tracks the second they hit the used market. I got one coming to Alaska all the way from Montana! $125 usps ground. Ouch. Obsolete odd ball things are a btch.

Anyways, back to chainsaws:
32:1 lucas, a smidgen of mmt and a smidgen of stabilizer. Thats been my go-to for 3 years now. I have echo cs 520 50 cc saw that has an airleak and gets extremely hot. The airleak is somewhere near where the carb mounts to the block. I believe 32:1 and a smidgen of mmt saved this saw from melting.

I haven't found a reason yet, to run expensive oils in any of my dozens of sht box 2 strokes.

Yamaha Vk 540 would be my utility sled of choice. That or and older 2 speed skandic.
The Amish war horse of worksleds. Its a shame that yammy quit the sled market.

Theres a mint rebadged vk-bearcat thats been setting for sale for months. Nobody wants it and I dont get it.
