This KL200 seems prettty clean, I have little to Jo smoke upon startup.

Wonder if it is to much at 32:1

Kind of hard to beat the32:1 habbit.

Sent from my non internal combustion device.

In the 50's & 60's saws like the Solo Rex and the Contra's were 9-12hp and 24lb's pho. Little to no AV and required a mans hand to start. I have just got an original Contra up & running and have been given an appreciation of what those guys did. The saw I have would have potentially many thousands of hours run time under its belt. When I sat it down on my wood decking outside idleing while I grabbed a tuning fork it shook the whole deck with authority. Giving it a bit of a piss rev makes your vision blurr as ya eyeballs shake. But in their day these saws that could be run in any position due to diaphram carbs, had over 10hp and were able to be used by a single operator were hi tech and loved by those in the timber industry. Just blocking down some 20" wood for half an hour to properly tune this animal gave me repsect to those that proudly ran these saws all day. Today our expectations of saws are really high and they are super smooth in comparison. As this is an oil thread I will mention the Contra shop service manual states a ratio of 12:1 for break-in period (first 100hrs) followed by 16:1 there after. I doubt this saw has ever seen FD synthetic oil, ports are cleaner than my modern saws and it has more hours on it than all my saws combined. Compression is 127psi, not a mark or evidence of blowby on the piston.

John and I have a huge redoak to cutdown when he is back from Portland that will burn up several gallons of fuel. 60+ " tree
Put some 800 in the mix using the 390.

I never have liked a 390,for no more difference in weight I'll take the 95 anytime. I got a few sporty saws and have owned several 390's but sold all of them.
My least favorite husky.

A ported 390xp has to be one of the fastest saws made. Especially when comparing 70-90cc and under wearing a 28" bar. I love my ported 660 but I doubt it's more comfortable or stronger than a ported 390xp wearing a 28-32" bar.

My last purchase was a 372 but I wanted a 390xp until I held one. It felt about the same weight as my 660. I wanted a lighter firewood saw than my 660. A few weeks later a Logging buddy gave me a 440. Now it's going to TN to get some bananas with fingers. I'll see how it compares to my ported 372x-torq. My cousin wants the 440 but I'm keeping it. He can borrow my ported 036 anytime.

What are you going to be reporting?
1) lubrication in top and bottom end
2) piston crown appearance
3) power comparison
4) cut times of each oil
5) operating temps

I'm looking forward to your results. Thanks again.

066 or 660 doesn't make any difference once ported. It takes more work but a 660 can be stronger than a 390. I beat my very strong 395 with my 066 with a 36".
Thanks.....that's impressive. Do you prefer 3/8 or 404 on your 066/660's cutting firewood? I only cut hardwood.
