Ive used saber, dominator, red armor, echo powerblend, husky xp+, VP, kawasaki, 7000 2t shaeffers, dolmar and some others I’m probably forgetting all with good results. Oil is only as good as the gas you use... if you use bad old *s-word with water in it, it will cause problems.

Mason, i used Lucas with VP SEF at 25:1...........

VP is Great fuel, Lucas 2 cycle oil just sucks
I would’t use Lucas judging by your accounts of it. My point was that if you use good oil with bad gas, it’s defeating the purpose. You need both good oil and good gas. Not just one or the other.

Sorry its taking so long to get my testing under way. Life had gotten in the way big time and now this lock down. I'm about ready to get started with the used trimmers I have just for something to do. At least they are all the same brand and run like new.
Hit it hard with Viagra for staying power during the lockdown!

People outside forums aren’t picky and If it runs its good. Lucas is readily available at the corner auto parts store 7 days a week so for the majority of people its a good option.

I'll have to try that on my camp chef. For steaks I always go old school, wood or charcoal.

I have a charbroil half propane/half charcoal that I use. Propane for hotdogs and when I'm feeling lazy, charcoal started with maple from the brush pile added for the smoke for nice stuff. I really should get the smoke box that can go on the side of this thing.

Dolmar, bottle, oil color, smell, seems to be Husqvarna XP. Or visa versa.

A bad operator and conditions will kill great top brand equipment.
A good operator and just so so equipment with the correct conditions, for what it was engineered for, will give decent service.
The Weed Eater brand was my first trimmer back in the '80s. Versus the sickle bar I used to use it was worth it's weight in gold.

Another thought.....maybe Weed Eater Poulan trimmers aren't as sh itty as most of us think? Idk. They are for cutting weeds. If they do that for several years then gtg.

The motors were never the problem on the weed easter. It was everything else that was trash, those stock fuel line and primer bulbs hardened and cracked before ethanol in gas was a thing, and the trimmer head was extra terrible. And the whole no clutch thing.

That no clutch deal does blow. Makes them hard to start. I'll never buy a new trimmer without a clutch. In fact if I do buy a new one it's going to be an Echo SRM-225. Should out last me with the fanatical maintenance and care my quality equipment gets.

The ryobi straight shaft I bought as a refurb is surprisingly good. Its so quiet, which I'm sure my neighbors love since I spend 1-1/2 - 2 tanks worth of time trimmy my hillside with it every time I mow. Even the head is pretty good, I had an echo speed head kicking around that I was going to put on it, but I haven't felt the need yet.

I've also considered the 25cc Honda 4 stroke, but at nearly $400 which is almost double the echo and a couple pounds heavier if I recall, I've kinda backed off that idea for now. I don't use a trmmer much anyway. Maybe an hour a month 2 max. And that's 4-6 months a year. I really don't need a new trimmer. In fact I've been using a Core Outdoor Power battery trimmer for several years. Very powerful but out of business after Cub Cadet bought them out. My battery is starting to show its age a bit. I used to be able to do the entire yard twice on a charge. Now it's one. It was a commercial unit and wasn't cheap. If they were still available I probably wouldn't even consider a gas trimmer even though anything gas powered gives me the fuz.

Just rebuild the battery. If its a lithium it probably just has 18650 cells in it. Or if you don't want to buy/build a tab welder or soldering on something that can explode if you get it too hot scares you your local electronics shop can probably rebuild it.
