Good work![emoji106] Just wondering how the inside is looking at this point? Also pulling the engine way down regularly to simulate some real use would be interesting as well. Maybe a piece of wood would do the trick, without eating the line up too fast. I know a lot of guys on the lawn site have used Amsoil Saber at 100:1 for years in trimmers without issue. In saws I've seen poor results and have had to replace more than one top end. Motul 800 is a better oil than Saber when it comes to film strength though.[emoji111]

So a 3700 rpm reduction in rpm with this set-up over the factory one isn't enough of a real world load? Interesting. I'd guess there isn't a trimmer in normal use that comes close to the abuse this is going through over this period of testing. I think the load is more than sufficient but hey, I'm no expert on loads.
I'm just going by what I notice when I personally use a my trimmer in thick grass or when using a brush blade, this can bog you way down, sometimes the clutch will slip here and there. That type of load really increases head temp, far beyond the constant load from the line IMHO. I realize you don't have a clutch though so you can only do so much though. Trimmers can take a lot of abuse for sure, low compression, not crazy rpm and pretty good cooling, and with enough fuel they will run a long time on 100:1 with a good oil. Now saws are a different story. For example a 346 without load will spin 14,000 rpm or better, pull that down to 9,000 -10,000 rpm with good load, and likely 2,000 - 3,000 when the chain bites and clutch slips. Apple's to Oranges though.

Not being critical just offering my input, feel free to ignore if you like. I think you're doing a fine job and putting a lot if effort into it.[emoji111]

The piston looks new because the oil isn’t burning and its washing the piston.
Correct, SOME oil is not being burned, like I said it was tuned rich, and mix ratio was 44-1 running a maxflow and gutted 2 port muffler though, so I preferred it rich, saw ran very well.

Motul 800 off-road has nearly double the film strength as a typical 2T oil designed for chainsaws. 800 burned completely in my ported 660 noodling or ripping hardwood. Typical firewood cutting I'd have a very wet muffler and spark plug. Tune was good and mix was 32:1. I tried that ratio in my ported 372 and I had oil leaking from the muffler. I even tuned it over 15K and it still wouldn't burn completely. I switched to Motul 710, viscosity similar to chainsaw 2T oils, with great results.

Under very heavy load I've seen it burn off at 32:1in a ported 395, but in most circumstance Motul 800 will make a mess even at 50:1 this is why most here don't recommend it for normal use, for milling it offers a lot of protection. Again trimmers like the one you're testing with are very detuned, it's also very small in displacement and running at a static load. This all has an effect.

Come on now post up the pics why don't you.[emoji6]

Ok to all you fellas that have experience actually USING Motul 800 off-road, I'd like to hear from you on what circumstances, if any, you were able to get a dry muffler on any OPE using this oil. Feel free to list ratio as well if you are so inclined. I know milling is one of those times but I still would like to hear about it, if you would all so indulge me, b4 I post some pictures of the insides of this trimmer engine. Same posts from multiple people is fine. As in, if someone said they milled and had a dry muffler, please still post if you did as well. I'll give it till this evening sometime b4 I post up my findings thus far with pictures and my usual commentary.

As an aside, the nipple (he said nipple), Is in the tank. Giving it 24 hrs to cure the sealant then its on again tomorrow barring any unforeseen interruptions. Thank you guys.

Milling was the only time and the smell was hideous after 2 gallons in about 3 hours. I had to refill mid cut with it in a ported 390xp. I had pictures somewhere of it or @concretegrazer had them. He bought the saw right after that.

The smell gets to you after awhile, in small doses it kind of smells good, but that changes after a few minutes. Same goes for most Klotz oils IMHO.

No pictures but I actually got 800t @ 40:1 to burn and make a nice wash pattern on the piston top on a Masterminded 461 with a 28" bar buried and tuned at about 14200rpm. Muffler was dry but in most circumstances when tune rich at 32:1 under low load it wash the piston and kept it clean and made a mess it the muffler/exhaust
