The piston looks new because the oil isn’t burning and its washing the piston.Motul 800 is the bomb! 461 - 30 tanks -oily can-tuned rich but piston like new!!!
I would have to agree, you will see the same thing with H1R, R50 and other oils with really high flash points. The piston looks new because the oil isn’t burning and its washing the piston.
I'm just going by what I notice when I personally use a my trimmer in thick grass or when using a brush blade, this can bog you way down, sometimes the clutch will slip here and there. That type of load really increases head temp, far beyond the constant load from the line IMHO. I realize you don't have a clutch though so you can only do so much though. Trimmers can take a lot of abuse for sure, low compression, not crazy rpm and pretty good cooling, and with enough fuel they will run a long time on 100:1 with a good oil. Now saws are a different story. For example a 346 without load will spin 14,000 rpm or better, pull that down to 9,000 -10,000 rpm with good load, and likely 2,000 - 3,000 when the chain bites and clutch slips. Apple's to Oranges though. So a 3700 rpm reduction in rpm with this set-up over the factory one isn't enough of a real world load? Interesting. I'd guess there isn't a trimmer in normal use that comes close to the abuse this is going through over this period of testing. I think the load is more than sufficient but hey, I'm no expert on loads.
Correct, SOME oil is not being burned, like I said it was tuned rich, and mix ratio was 44-1 running a maxflow and gutted 2 port muffler though, so I preferred it rich, saw ran very well. The piston looks new because the oil isn’t burning and its washing the piston.
And/or high viscosities??I would have to agree, you will see the same thing with H1R, R50 and other oils with really high flash points.
They normally go hand in hand.And/or high viscosities??
Ok to all you fellas that have experience actually USING Motul 800 off-road, I'd like to hear from you on what circumstances, if any, you were able to get a dry muffler on any OPE using this oil. Feel free to list ratio as well if you are so inclined. I know milling is one of those times but I still would like to hear about it, if you would all so indulge me, b4 I post some pictures of the insides of this trimmer engine. Same posts from multiple people is fine. As in, if someone said they milled and had a dry muffler, please still post if you did as well. I'll give it till this evening sometime b4 I post up my findings thus far with pictures and my usual commentary.
As an aside, the nipple (he said nipple), Is in the tank. Giving it 24 hrs to cure the sealant then its on again tomorrow barring any unforeseen interruptions. Thank you guys.

The smell gets to you after awhile, in small doses it kind of smells good, but that changes after a few minutes. Same goes for most Klotz oils IMHO.Milling was the only time and the smell was hideous after 2 gallons in about 3 hours. I had to refill mid cut with it in a ported 390xp. I had pictures somewhere of it or @concretegrazer had them. He bought the saw right after that.
