Ever check your tune milling? Just curious if you tune richer when milling compared to cutting firewood?
Same tune as cutting .maybe slightly richer 13k or so on 660 ,in the pass it is pretty smooth between 8-9000 rmps

Square full skip?
i run full comp and full skip ,if w want a little nicer finish will use full comp ,full skip leaves a decent finish also ,just not as nice as full comp ,full skip is a little faster ripping though ,clears the chips better .

That's terrible Keith the only oil I buy from Stihl is biodegradable bar oil it's Mobil1 Racing 2T in the fuel for me @ 40:1 zip carbon;)
Im not sure whats goin on with this saw unless its tuned too lean. Generally the Stihl Ultra thats in equipment that I work on looks pretty clean in the ring lands and some doesnt. These rings were getting tight20170716_065523.jpg

Maybe they'll switch to a better oil after that diagnosis.

Not common practice for me brother!:D Id pick up another saw if I had one until I could fix the problem instead of running a known problem if I was aware of it? Ive seen saws drop cylinder/piston in a few minutes with air leaks

Not a problem for me to keep running a saw with known air leak thanks to running the same oil and 25:1 mix for over 20 years I have never had a failure due to an air leak I have confidence in the oil to keep running the saw, I've done lots of testing this oil but I just call it work...
