Do you mill with 404 or mostly 3/8?
.404 only now ,with 3/8 my bar was getting too hot ,and had to sharpen the chain more often ,the wider links of the .404 carry more oil and on a 32 inch bar there is 96 vs 105 drive links creating friction so that alone helps run cooler .

Here's something I've often wondered. Why did Poulan insist on a stone age 16:1 mix well into the 90's when darn near everybody else was at 40:1 or 50:1? Sometime around 1993-1995 they switched to 40:1 where they are today. Was there some sort of design change they finally made to their engines? Or, just a company tradition that they finally had to let go of as smog regs got tighter? I've read that some really old outboards and chainsaws had bushings instead of bearings in the crank, and so needed a really slimy mix to survive. Can't imagine that a chainsaw or weedeater made when I was in high school would actually need that much oil though.

I often wonder, what is the real effect of oil on the air to fuel ratio? If we are talking 50:1 vs. 32:1, that is 1.2 ounces of oil difference. As there are 128 ounces in a gallon, even if more oil did lean the AFR that is less than a 1% difference. I would think that would be more than made up by the additional lubricant supply and perhaps slightly lower combustion temperatures as the oil isn't nearly as volatile as gasoline. The effect could even be similar to EGR on a modern four stroke auto engine, the oil acts as a less combustible substances added to the fuel-air charge which brings combustion temperatures down. Just something I've always thought about!
