I start saws everyday inside the shop on
Klotz and test saws everyday on klotz and it's been a long time since I've noticed the smell.

Even at 32:1 it's burning it completely and still no smell. I also never have one fat on the low side even a new saw it dont,I'll slow it down with the high not the low.

Maybe my nose is broke?

I still get a little smell but I notice a burning in my nose and throat. Mainly when in a closed area (next to a stump) very still day.
The Echo red armor has less smell but more burning in my nose and the Dolmar synthetic as a bit more smoke and smell but less burn. Neither are terrible if tuned right but still there.

I would think 40:1 may clean it up but none the less if it protects and runs good, it dus not look to bad.

Been real happy with the Super M I have been running.

Jason has shown what some Klotz oil looks like at 50:1, and it was dry on the crown and wet on the skirt. Super Techniplate I believe???

I don't think the scuff is from oil, looks like it ate something or the exhaust port had a burr on it.
I used very little original though.
Doesn't look dirty it looks like it's actually trying to burn it.
I think if the piston crown isn't black after that many tanks it's not burning it but I'm no expert, hell I run benol. Lol

I have none of the problems others have had with benol so maybe it's how you use it. I'm running 32:1 now and it's burning nicely.

A good load and and right tune plays a big part, if you pussyfoot a saw I can see why some if not all oils may get a bad rep.

A guy on AS asked Maxima about 927 and they said if the tune was spot on it should burn decent.

It did not look go bad when the saw was tuned right, actually was almost spotless below the rings with plenty of oil on the skirt.

Saber at 40:1 will remain my go to oil but some of the info posted by others has sparked my curiosity so I have been playing with Yamalube and Motul 800 just to compare for fun , I don't plan on going beyond that .

I've found an oil I'm happy with and trust and in the long run that's all that really matters , a good running saw with a sharp chain .

Holy grail in oil ? , hard to prove that . I think there are good and better oils on the market that all work just fine for what they are intended for , looking beyond that doesn't matter .

Redbull , I'm betting there are a lot of saws running just fine with a mark on the piston just like yours . What caused it ? , could have been many things non which caused any harm unless it gets worse .

One word of caution , advancing the timing can be one of the issues .

I have been running 36:1 klotz original techniplate since day 1 on my new 661 arctic. I have 7 tanks on it so far. The saw has the old style boot and it's been bogging. So I decided to change the boot....which pretty much requires pulling the jug. It's a total pain to drop the tank with all the wiring on the arctic.

seems to burn pretty clean inside the muffler can. Big mark on the piston. Oil fault? Klotz does say 13k limit for orig. techniplate. But I would only go over that piss reving so? Or maybe Hd2 let something get through? This is my 11th or 12th 661 and this is the first time I've seen this and it's the first time I've used original techniplate. coincidence?

see video for top of piston - it's wet and black. No transfer wash showing. Video is posted after pictures.

inside the jug. Not exactly clean, like I've seen with the likes of mobil 1, honda hp2, and schaeffers.

Maybe it would run cleaner at 40:1?
IMO that oil is doin exactly what it should. Plenty of residual , carbon on top of piston which appears like complete combustion, and a dry internal muffler. That scar is from either a port burr or something went through

Doubt that scuff was oil related.
Also looks like the intake side is worn pretty good.

Just looked at the pics again. Residual oil looks like what I have seen in every other two cycle ran at a simular ratio.
Wear on the intake port is crazy for only 7 tanks.

Ya he has something going on in that saw. Looks alot like something gettin past the air filter or running lean and the mtronics compensating and running rich hence the wetness on top of the piston which isnt characteristic of any Klotz oil Ive ran. Might better be looking for an air leak with the bogging and scuffing. Id pressure check that saw but the exhaust side looks like a port burr or something went through it
