If you can get Klotz products easily r-50 and the stuff Keith uses are at least the correct type oils. Give them a try.

So if one had to choose from Lucas or Synthetic Stihl...what would you choose?

Both are easily available. Anything else would have to be ordered off the net. Not going to drive 50+ miles for chainsaw oil

I've been using synthetic Stihl since I've been running saws/weed wackers with no issues

I would use lucas over stihl but I don't like stihl oil. Don't know if it's any better

I used to run Lucas. It seemed to do the job pretty good. My only complaint was that I found it stinks

Luckily my father owns a NAPA store and has Lucas on the shelf. I'm about out of stihl. Maybe half a gallon left

I read a while ago about assembly practices and how some saw a dry piston and rings with a oiled bottom end is how they do it. I've tried a few different ways including the dry method. I must say that I much prefer to oil everything some. Not sopping wet but a light film on cylinder walls and all bearings

Now I mentioned a few pages ago that I recently bought some mystik sea and snow for my ski. It's stated to be jaso fd oil suitable for air and water cooled. My ski is running high loads with big rpm swings. I've been running tcw3 before this as it was a watercooled motor. Is this oil a low ash air cooled oil that suits my application to a ski well? Also would it work well in my ope? If it's really a air cooled oil will it be the wrong application for a outboard? My ski seems to be a middle of the road as far as what oil I should be using. Anyone got some I'm put on yhes?

I oil rings. Bottom end gets lube if it's new bearings.

I just can't force myself to start a dry top end. I cringe to think of it.

It tells me you were not tuned properly to start with.
Plug was golden brown off the mobil before i swapped oils to saber had to lean it some when changed, the viscosities must be different to turn my plug that black, both would tune out clean though

It says especially recommended for chainsaws and it actually has a pic. Of a saw on the can so it must be the shizzz. plus "royal guard". That sounds pretty good eh? Sorry, I don't have any real info just had this sitting on the shelf.....carry on. 20160604_210106.jpg20160604_210118.jpg20160604_210106.jpg 20160604_210118.jpg20160604_210153.jpg
