I think some are paying a bit too much attention to what an msds sheet says about an oil or what someone told us about an oil. There is absolutely nothing wrong with supertech tcw3 in a sled or a 50hp merc. I've used 8 gallons of that stuff every year for the last 25 years without failure. We should start posting personal knowledge as fact instead of what an article read.
I have used my bad oil for 15 years without incident,I think the oil we mix in gas is to keep it from seizing but correct me if I'm wrong.

With all the different opinions, it's hard for one to grasp which one is better. Everyone has their favorite that has worked for years.I think we can conclude this conversation with ANY oil is better than no oil.

I've ran gallons of that Orange bottle stuff too. Never had any trouble.
I really believe it's just use whatever you have handy. I've used plenty of boat oil in my stuff with no failures, and I know quite a few guys who run the cheapest stuff they can buy.
I'm certain that if there was any oil that killed saws, you and most of these other guys who build and run them daily would know about it. Truth is, all of it works as long as you mix it right and get decent gas, imho.
Hell I'm just tickled that I can contribute a little. Most of the time you guys are jabberin about stuff way over my pay grade.
Although I've never had a single problem with any oil, before I started porting I cut timber for years on Orange bottle stihl.
