most loggers run 40:1 87 E10 and most of them buy supertech outboard oil in the gallon jug.
they request we tune them a little rich because they want them to last.

ah grade school so many memories like the boy who stabbed me with a fork in the lunch room and he got a shattered jaw bone and a lunch tray over the head.
suspended for a week it was worth it.
I got kicked out of kindergarten. One time in kindergarten during lunch a kid was in my seat and wouldn't move. So I poured his chocolate milk on his head then shoved him out of his seat. I've toned down since those days....especially having a family.

U reckon thoso loggers use sunoco 110 and 800t? :cunaooooo:. Couldnt u see tellin them to buy fuel at 9$ per gal. And oil at 25qt? Think Monkey woulda went for it?
Monkey Man, local Logger 63 years old, actually started mixing a 40:1 ratio of ultra. He mostly sits in a skidder rather than holding that saw up all day at his age. He's full of valuable Logging knowledge though. He uses what the owner gives him mostly.

Monkey Man, local Logger, told me their Stihl saws last between 5-18 months usually. They mix stihl ultra, before that the stihl orange bottle, at 40:1 in the hot months and 50:1 during the colder months. He's been running chainsaws and Logging over 40 years. He said 044's and 440's have been the most dependable saws he's ever used. He ran my MM 660 and said it was the strongest saw he'd ever ran.

I haven't used 110 for a while. I've been using 93 non-e in all my saws.

I've not seen a gain with it up to 240 lbs of compression.
Same here, I run lots of compression also and anything over 93 octane I start loosing power and throttle response.

89 octane and super technoplate is what I use, I've not used oil that will protect like it does.

Using 110 Sunoco in my 660 it livens up. Quicker throttle response and more power in the cut. I had three witnesses watching and they all said the 110 was noticeable faster than 93. I'll test again to see if I get the same results.

I've tried 100 108 110 114 in my 066 that's 240lb of compression and a huge ignition advance and the higher the octane the more sluggish it became.

I'm not saying it can't be faster it's just not in my saw, I've got a few more big compression saws but I didn't try it in them. For me 89 or 91 makes the most power.

I was surprised myself the 110 was faster. But cutting with it I knew immediately it fell stronger. After documenting times watching my videos the 110 was significantly faster. I'll retest again though. My tach showed 110 around 13600 rpms and 93 around 13750 WOT.
Did you have to retune for any fuels?

I don't think so but I can't remember.
Once after a very long hard cut running 87 octane my old saw didnt want to die but that's the only problem I've had.

The higher the octane the less flammable, the lowest octane you can run without detonating will make the most power.

Theory around AS forever now is the short stroke of the saws doesnt give the saw time to detonate and the lower octane ignites sooner and gives the mix longer to burn more completely resulting in more power is my understanding. Thus 87 making the most power

That's what Treemonkey was saying forever. In all the stuff I've tested it's been true.
