I like big boomers, but my Ruger 77 MKII stainless sporter in .243 has accounted for a good deal of venison and they're not small bodied around here... Shot placement usually trumps horsepower in these applications. Now, if I were hunting the African big 5 or Grizzlies? I'd start at .338wm and be thinking between .375H&H-.416-.450-400 or .577NE real fast...

I haven't shot any of the WSMs yet. The regular 7mm Rem Mag seems about like a .30-06. They come down to weight and stock design for me. They can be a gentle bang r a punishing jab. The worst I ever had was a detachable mag package deal Savage rifle (110 r 116 maybe?). It was horrible.

I would still like to convert my Czech VZ24 K98 from an 8x57mm (Which IS a nice round) into a .338-06. I think it would be a fairly useful round.

338 Lapua wasn't too bad for recoil with a brake. The percussion is what sucks. A 338 WM wasn't horrible without a brake. 300wsm out of a lower weight hunting rifle wasn't pleasant. The same caliber in a FN TSR wasn't bad at all.

A 338 will pound you, until you you shoot a .50.

Then a 338 ain't so bad

I see we have some knuckle dragger on this new site. Wow ......enjoy watching that but not for me. I've lost to much bark in my time. [emoji106]
Yeah I was doing some longboarding but it's hard to slow down and stop at high speeds. Seen the freebord and had to have it carve slide drift spin and most of all I can stop for traffic

Built this with a 49cc 4 stroke loved it on trails and hills. Once I broke the gear box I built it up with a torque less 2 stroke

Well, the 460 is kind of a handful to shoot but not as bad as most people think who haven't fired one yet. It is compensated and heavy. Recoil is a bit more stout than my 629 Classic shown in my pics when shooting full house 240gr mag loads. The thing about my 460 is that it has one hell of a concussion that you the shooter will feel slap you right in the face. It is guaranteed to clear stopped up sinuses in 3 rds or less! LOL! Double hearing protection is an absolute MUST when shooting indoors. Outdoors I have found good muffs to be sufficient, but your mileage may vary.. One fun thing about the 460 is dropping nearly 50gr of H110 per cartridge!! LOL! Alot of rifles use less powder! :D

Do not ever, ever, EVER, EVER, (did I say ever?) fire one with no hearing protection, even for one shot at game in the field. Hearing damage is guaranteed.

The 338WM. Well, I find it to be a bit fatiguing shooting it on the bench. Bench shooting by it's nature is usually harder on the shoulder than shooting afield generally speaking. But this can be said about most rifles though too. I also have a Rem 700 ADL synthetic in 270 Win. It's small, light, and the stock isn't very good. That rifle is every bit as taxing to shoot as the 338, in fact I would say it may even wear on me quicker than the 338 due to it's sharper recoil. The 338 is definitely the stronger push, but I think the weight of the SG helps alot. Should be right around 9.5lb with the glass mounted. The Rem 700 is MUCH lighter. The trigger on the 70 is far superior to the Rem..

My brother has a Winchester m70 Sporter in 300WSM. I have fired it a few times. To me it feels about like an -06 in terms of recoil.

Guns hands down.

If I were to sell all my saws, I may have $2-3k

Hell, I have that just in one scope, much less the weapon it sits on.....

That's why I became satisfied with what I have, they all work for the style shooting and training I do, so why dump more money in.

At least saws make me money.

Saws, guns, ATC's, old trucks..... My interests always out-muscle my bankroll! LOL!

Nice guns those revolvers don't leave shell casings lying about.

No Sir.. I love my wheelguns! Much easier to scavenge my brass back up for reloading.. :)

I have owned a couple of autos, nice ones too. A Walther PPK/S 380 and a S&W Stainless E-Series 1911 with accessory rail. I really liked them, but sold one and traded the other in order to buy my M70 Super Grade. I kinda miss em, but I'm a wheelgun man through and through. I'll probably get another 1911 at some point... Likely a Kimber Eclipse.
