image.jpeg Here's mine, she's currently still sat like this as the 090 died mid cut, but this slice is going to be about 2 and a half Inhes thick, live edge with the dark heartwood.

I've got some cast iron lathe A frames sand blasted and ready to bolt to the underside of the slab, it's to be a sort of rustic dining table as I promised the Mrs I'd make her one.

The slab sits currently around 10' long

Just tell your wife you need to get another 090 and a new chain now. Win-win!

Sucks you hit those nails, but they may look kind of cool in the slab if you can leave them in.

I'd love another 090 but they're quite rare over here, I guess there's not much calling for a saw that big in the UK these days.

Sending the cylinder off to be re-plated, may as well tear it down and do some port work and a pop up while I'm at it. Plus a cone filter on the intake to stop it sucking in dust again!

I can believe they are hard to come by in the UK. I'm just glad to hear you will be resurrecting the old girl, and it sounds like she's going to be a runner afterward!

How wide is that slab as it sits, just out of curiosity?

She's just shy of 3' wide, been milling with a 42" bar. I'm going to try and finish it off with the ms660 this week, should be slow going but I want to get it slabbed so I can wax the ends and drown the widest slab with pentacryl

Sounds good to me, and that will definitely be a workout for the 660. Be sure to turn up your oiler if you don't have an aux one!

Didn't @ajschainsaws have one? Seem to remember him saying it was an option for a customer.

Otherwise I can find you one if you want here in oz.

That heartwood looks great!

The money I'd spend on another 090 at the moment is being saved for a square grinder, however I may take you up on that offer at some point in the future. How much do they normally run over in oz?

It really depends on the seller and if it's an av model or older. I have picked one up for around 300 UK pounds, but more around 4/500 for average condition saws. With mint examples and dreamers chasing 1000+ with all things, it's patience and waiting for the right one to come along.

Just finished this cabinet for my wife's birthday with some black walnut, Homemade hardware, hand cut dovetails, ebony drawer pulls.

Drawer fronts were cut from one piece for grain matching.

Just another update, got the slab off for the table top and then hit yet more nails buried 12 inches into the tree!

Long and short is I trashed my third chain on this log so it's been ringed up for firewood!! That'll teach me to try and mill a yard tree!

However, I got this beauty, here it is soaked in pentacryl to try and stop it warping and cracking image.jpeg
And the nail that my mill spat out at me with great velocity image.jpeg

Helluva slab there! Looks great, but too bad it cost you another chain. Was this thing next to a nail factory or what?

That will be a great table! We'll need pictures down the road.
