Stop buying junk
Sounds easy yes. Why do I have a lesser need for chainsaws than a 35 year old? It’s really easy. Stop spending it on crap you don’t need at your age.

Try sticking with pro sawsSounds easy yes. Why do I have a lesser need for chainsaws than a 35 year old?
I don't intend to sell any of my chainsaws ever except for my McCulloch 610. I do want a couple pro saws in the future.Try sticking with pro saws
I'm 53 and only have one homeowner saw somebody put a 025 on my porch
I only have professional saws i can easily sell them if i ever want to.
The homeowner saws are more difficult to sell except the stihl 290/310/390 series sells fast.
The chinese saws have no resale value.
Why sell the most capable saw in your collection? That saw will pull a 24" bar with full comp chain all day...I don't intend to sell any of my chainsaws ever except for my McCulloch 610. I do want a couple pro saws in the future.
Well hopefully a 35 year old is well established in a career with a family and a solid future. At 35 I was married, three sons, no car payments. owned three homes, and buying more.Sounds easy yes. Why do I have a lesser need for chainsaws than a 35 year old?
35 was a random number I chose. I don't plan on having car payments ever, I'll buy with cash and drive till junk and I can afford something nicer. Homes are great investments, good for you.Well hopefully a 35 year old is well established in a career with a family and a solid future. What folks have tried to tell you repeatedly still seems to be escaping you. You seem to want to ignore the advice many good and experienced folks here have given ya. I doubt I am around when you reach 35 but I hope I am.35 was a random number I chose. I don't ignore the advice, and I do know a lot of it is good. I just can't resist sometimes making dumb decisions or purchases. I do have a decent savings. What folks have tried to tell you repeatedly still seems to be escaping you. You seem to want to ignore the advice many good and experienced folks here have given ya. I went to the scrapyard today and got $104 for my load of scrap metal plus my dad's beer cans he gives me. I couldn't resist snagging up a Homelite XL12 and Homelite XP 1000 from the pile near where I was unloading. Shockingly the XL12 fired right up and cuts, the 100cc XP 1000 is seized and for sale.
Let him do his thing Bill. You can give good advice, but you can't make him take it. He will be OK.11:12AM August 1, 2024

The xp1000 was a saw that I acquired today, before that reply/post. Those saws that I wont ever sell are of my personal collection, I still fix and sell other saws on the side.11:12AM August 1, 2024

I only point things out so he can examine them. In about two weeks he will need to make probably the largest decision he has ever had to make in his life.Let him do his thing Bill. You can give good advice, but you can't make him take it. He will be OK.
Leave the kid alone. You tend to post a lot of unnecessary content.11:12AM August 1, 2024

Here is a "productive" post for ya. Stihl as a company sucks but some as some far up their bung hole they cannot see the light of day. Thursday I phoned what is supposed to be a Stihl dealer. I needed a drum for a 044 which should be a stocked part. It was 4:15PM and the small engine guy was gone. The manager called be back and basically said we don't stock parts.Im hoping one post I read will be useful
